Willie Corduff (born 1953) is an Irish environmental activist from the farming community of Rossport, known as one of the "Rossport Five". He was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize in 2007 for his part in the Shell to Sea campaign, which led to a halt of the construction of a pipeline through their land by Royal Dutch Shell.[1] On 23 April 2009 (the second anniversary of his winning the Goldman Prize), Corduff was hospitalised in the early hours of the morning after an alleged assault by Shell security staff during protest at Shell works at Glengad. His father opposed rural electrification i.e. did not want electricity in the country side. [2] [3]
