The eJay Music Creation software series generally uses up to 99 tracks with royalty-free music compilations that users can put together, and/or create their own compilations of bass, drum, and melody, to create music, usually depending on the version bought. Some versions of eJay include Dance, Hip Hop, Techno, House, and Mix Stations. Two Special Editions were also released, the first included samples of Dance, Hip Hop and Rave, while the second focused on Dance, Hip Hop, Techno, House, and Drum 'n' Bass. A school edition was also released. eJay was formed and created in 1997.
In 2007 eJay announced the release of 3 new editions, Virtual Sounds 1, 2 and 3:
Virtual sounds 1 contains samples of Dance, House, Deep House, Tech House, Garage, 2Step, Trance, Hard Trance and Hardcore.
Virtual Sounds 2 contains samples of hip-hop, RnB, Triphop, Bigbeat, Break Dance, Dub, Funk, Latin, Reggae and Ethnic.
Virtual Sounds 3 contains samples of Techno, Drum & Bass, Ambient, Chillout, Alternative, Grunge, Rock and Pop.
In July 2008, the eJay page displays a image showing that all new products will be coming Late 2008.
eJay software is primarily designed for Windows based PCs. However, a Playstation 2 edition of eJay was released, called eJay Clubworld. The game evolves around a variety of genres and a mix of samples from various PC editions.
