The Flaming Fist is the largest and most powerful mercenary company of the fictional world, the Forgotten Realms. The Fist is based in the city of Baldur's Gate on the Sword Coast, where its members serve as a guard within the city. Any player causing enough trouble in town (by murdering its inhabitants) will be met by endlessly-generating, powerful npcs intent on slaying them. They also work out of this city, going down just south of Bergost. From Nashkel onwards, the Amnish soldiers keep guard.
The Flaming Fist organization is run by Duke Eltan, one of the four Grand Dukes of Baldur's Gate.
In the Baldur's Gate series computer games, the Flaming Fist plays a prominent role in much of the plot. In particular, the following characters are members of the Flaming Fist:
- Officer Vai is the woman who lurks in the Jovial Juggler in Beregost, after you have completed the quest in the Nashkel mines. She will buy your bandit scalps for 50 gp each.
- Scar is a man in Baldur's Gate, who will offer you quests, leading to the Iron Throne mystery. He is later killed, and you are left framed for a crime you did not commit.
