Ordering within Rank

[edit]

Is there any rationale for the initial ordering in which the athletes are presented within a given rank. Because it's not apparent. The logical choices would seem to be either by name or year, or even by sport. Some kind of neutral order would seem to be preferred. One wonders, for example, how Tony Estanguet became the first-listed of the triple gold medalists, while Michael Phelps was relegated to last. 108.56.245.21 (talk) 19:59, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to go through and sort with the rather neutral ranking methodology used at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_multiple_Olympic_medalists 74.215.41.73 (talk) 03:43, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rank

[edit]

Following the olympics ranking system, the ranking would be on gold, then silver etc. not on number of medals. That would move Lewis and Oerter up to 1. Why was this not chason as ranking here? Arnoutf (talk) 13:15, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can find that at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_multiple_Olympic_gold_medalists_in_one_event 74.215.41.73 (talk) 03:43, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

What is individual event, and what is team event?

[edit]

Why is Peter Hochschorner on the list of individual events for competing in Canoe slalom C-2, which includes 2 people, while Ivan Patzaichin is on the list of team events for competing in Canoeing C-2 1000m, which also includes 2 people? The same with Birgit Fischer and Katalin Kovács who compete in Canoeing K-2 500m. Is 2 person canoe individual event? It's definitely not team event. --Jakas1 (talk) 09:59, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
