Robin has money, a great apartment, and a famous TV-host mom. She could get basically whatever she wants. Why, then, isn’t she happy? She and her mom don’t really have a good relationship. In fact, Robin hardly ever sees her mom. She’s always busy working and telling other people how to make their lives/relationships better. Girls at school only want to be friends with her because of who her mom is. The only person who seems to genuinely care is Anita, the housekeeper.
One day, Robin discovers a ring and a photo hidden in a chair in her mom’s bedroom, and this starts her thinking. Why would her mom hide something away like that? On a whim, Robin decides to head to Nova Scotia to see if she can figure out whose ring it is, and why her mom has it. Robin ends up in the tiny town of Port Minton, where she slowly starts to unravel the truth behind who her mother is and learns a bit about herself along the way, too.
