A murder has happened on the grounds of Buckshaw, an old English mansion home to 11-year-old Flavia de Luce and her family.
On a summer night in 1950, young Flavia, an aspiring chemist, comes across the dying body of a stranger. Both shaken and amused, Flavia makes it her mission to find out just who this man is, why he is here in her home, and what happened.
She sets out in her investigation as any detective would, with the aid of her clever little mind, natural ability for science, and innocent charms (as needed). As the mysteries regarding this man unfold before Flavia’s eyes, more questions are uncovered, questions which Flavia soon discovers might be too dangerous to answer.
Will our young heroine bring the truth to light, or will, as the saying goes, curiosity kill the cat?
