Pragmatic and list-obsessed Julia is best friends with fiery-tempered and rebellious Ruth. Both attend a strict Christian private school where they are taught to live righteously and save themselves for marriage. After a weekend party, however, Ruth discovers that she is pregnant and turns to practical Julia for help. Julia devises a plan to keep Ruth’s secret hidden from her parents and their friends at school, but it becomes harder and harder to hide it from Julia’s family and from Ruth’s hot older brother Jonah. Julia’s narrative reveals how her plan plays out, as well as some surprising things she and Ruth learn along the way about friendship, family, boys, and even literature.
