My Mother is a French Fry and Further Proof of my Fuzzed-up Life by Colleen Sydor
Eli is an angsty 15-year-old who is constantly embarrassed by her mother’s behaviour and job as a French fry mascot for a local burger joint. Her best friend, Grace, has two dads who, in Eli’s opinion, are much cooler than her own parents, especially her mother. When she meets JG, a boy from school, she develops a crush on him and finds that she can relate to JG, who has problems of his own. JG soon becomes a distraction from her home life. When Eli’s mother un-expectantly becomes pregnant, Eli must deal with her emotions towards her mother and figure out how she will continue to fit into their expanding family. With advice from those around her, Eli finds a way to make it through.
