Born with a rare mutation that made his skin green and scaly and grew his body to grotesque proportions. Waylon Jones was born with a reptilian hide, superhuman strength, enhanced lung capacity, sharp teeth & claws as well as enhanced regeneration abilities. Waylon Jones was raised by an alcoholic aunt and bullied relentlessly for his appearance. He briefly worked as a carnival freak under the name Killer Croc, but his misanthropy grew as did his bestial nature, pushing him to a life of crime. As his physical condition and mental state deteriorate, Killer Croc becomes a more bestial foe, increasingly detached from humanity.
Waylon Jones, better known as Killer Croc, is a major antagonist in the Batman: Arkham video game series. He is one of Batman's greatest enemies who, due to a genetic disorder, was born with crocodile-like skin, a condition that grew worse over the years. Forced to live with his abusive and alcoholic aunt and abused and bullied his entire life due to his appearance, Croc grew to despise humanity, becoming more and more animal-like, in body as well as in spirit.
He was voiced by Steve Blum in the three mainstream Arkham games, who also voiced Vilgax in Ben 10, Starscream in Transformers PrimeMakucha in The Lion Guard. Khary Payton voiced a younger Killer Croc in Arkham Origins, who also voiced Azrael in the same series.
Having been born with a rare genetic mutation that made his skin look and feel like green scales, and making him grow to an enormous size, Waylon Jones was ostracised by other children, so he began to go insane. He saw no relief at home as his mother died in childbirth and his father left soon after, so he grew up orphaned living with his aunt. As he got older, Jones joined a circus as a freak under the name Killer Croc and grew to genuinely care about his circus-mates, but they were brutally murdered by furious attendees for unknown reasons. Enraged, Croc gave into his instincts and became more bestial which turned him into a cannibal when he hunted down and ate the killers.
Pre-Arkham Origins[]
Jones eventually gained various warrants, including 7 counts of assault, 8 counts of aggravated assault, 4 counts of murder of the first degree, 16 counts of murder of the second degree, 12 counts of manslaughter, 4 counts of drug dealing, and 5 counts of racketeering. At some point prior to Christmas Eve, he encountered and was defeated by Batman before being imprisoned in Blackgate Prison.
Batman: Arkham Origins[]
On Christmas Eve, Killer Croc is one of the eight assassins hired by Black Mask (later revealed to be the Joker) to kill Batman for $50 million. Despite this, he is still imprisoned in Blackgate but Black Mask breaks into the prison to kill Commissioner Loeb and spring Killer Croc who acts as muscle for the crime lord. Croc is first spotted by Batman escorting "Black Mask" through Blackgate after staging a major prison breakout where Batman witnesses him, under orders from Black Mask, murder Commissioner Loeb by throwing him into the prison's gas chamber and turning it on, which was originally going to be used to execute Calendar Man.
Batman then follows Croc and his employer to the roof where Black Mask escapes and the Dark Knight confronts Croc they then fight on the snowy roof of Blackgate Prison. Batman is first caught off guard by the size and strength and animalistic fighting style. After trying to eat Batman, Croc resorts to throwing giant gas tanks that were being stored on the roof. This tactic is his undoing however, as Batman uses a batarang to explode one of the tanks as Croc was holding it which temporarily incapacitates him. Croc then knocks him halfway off the roof before brutally beating him for information on Black Mask, telling Batman of all the assassins hired to kill him on Christmas Eve, as Croc begins to taunt him, Batman knocks him out and leaves him on the roof of the prison for Captain Gordon and his officers. When Batman returns to the Batcave, he finds out that Black Mask hired eight assassins to kill the Batman, and one of them is Killer Croc.
After causing chaos through the prison, sending Commissioner Loeb to the execution chamber, and getting beaten by the Bat, Croc is placed back in the prison only to be broken out by Joker later in a prison riot. Croc then finds and confronts Batman before being shot in the back of his bullet proof head by Gordon who orders him back to his cell. Croc then exclaims "Screw this!" and leaves Batman and Gordon alone. He is presumably locked back in his cell after the Joker's riot.
Pre-Arkham Asylum[]
For several years, Killer Croc remains in Blackgate but is then imprisoned in Arkham Asylum after its renovation. Because of how strong and dangerous he is however, the guards imprison him in a walled off area of the sewer where they just throw meat down for him to eat. During this time, he becomes even more bestial, feral and taller with his hunger to eat Batman only increasing.
Sometime before Arkham Asylum, Croc is repeatedly interviewed by Dr. Gretchen Whistler and tells her stories of him killing and eating his victims, but Dr. Whistler won't believe him. During one of his attempted escapes, Croc attacks and bit off Aaron's left hand, hoping it would kill him and, although Cash manages to survive, he has to replace his missing hand with a hook. During a patient interview, Dr. Whistler tells Croc that Cash nearly died. Croc replies by saying that he nearly died too, as he nearly choked on one of the bones in Aaron's hand. Disgusted, Dr. Whistler leaves, but not before Croc threatens that she's going to be his next meal as he has her scent. Croc proves to be dangerous enough that the guards place an electric collar around his neck.
Batman: Arkham Asylum[]
Killer Croc is first seen whilst Batman brings the Joker back to the Asylum where he is being brought from an elevator. Killer Croc emerges out of the elevator and threatens Batman that he was going to kill him after he acquires his scent. He is then forced to keep walking due to the electric collar on his neck, and is sent into his lair. Although the Joker then takes over the prison and has Killer Croc on his "Party List," he makes no attempt to release the villain; likely because he would just eat Batman and ruin his plans. Later, Killer Croc appears as Batman leaves the Batcave on Arkham Island via the sewers but has to leave when the door he's behind fails to give way under a punch. Later on the night though, Batman is forced to enter Killer Croc's lair to get an antidote to the TITAN formula after asking for help from Poison Ivy. After Batman manages to fend off Scarecrow's Fear Toxins for the third time, he proceeds to chase him, which leads him all the way to the entrance of Killer Croc's Lair. Just as Scarecrow is about to drop a bag of Fear Toxins into the sewers, Killer Croc jumps out of the water, and grabs the Scarecrow. Just when he is about to kill Scarecrow, Batman throws one of his batarangs right into the shock collar, which causes Croc to jump back in the water, with Scarecrow still in his hands.
Afterwards, Batman ventures into Killer Croc's lair where, every once in a while, Killer Croc emerges and charges at Batman. Batman manages to fend off Killer Croc each time he attacks, by throwing a batarang onto his electric collar, sending Croc to the water each time. When Batman acquires enough spores to create an antidote of the TITAN formula and is about to leave Killer Croc's lair, Killer Croc rushes towards Batman and attempts to kill him once more.
However, before Batman entered Killer Croc's lair, he placed some explosive gel on a weak floorboard in the likelihood of this situation. Just when Killer Croc is about to grab Batman, Batman triggers the explosive gel, which causes the floorboard underneath Croc to explode. This causes Killer Croc to fall back into the deepest parts of his lair but, before Batman exits Killer Croc's lair, Croc threatens Batman that he will find him. Somehow, Killer Croc is later recaptured and sent back to his cell.
Batman: Arkham City[]
During the Joker's takeover of Arkham Asylum, the Asylum was destroyed so it is shut down and abandoned six months later in favour of a new prison named Arkham City. Killer Croc takes up residence in the sewers and survives by feeding off any henchmen that wander into the sewers. After Batman defeats Ra's al Ghul and gets a blood sample, he decides to leave Ra's hideout and give the blood to Mr. Freeze. While he was trying to get out of the sewers the same way he came in, the bars were sealed shut, prevent him from exiting the sewer. Batman decides to throw one of his Remote Batarangs at a certain button, hoping it would open the bars. When the button is hit, instead of causing to bars to open, Killer Croc breaks through the wall, telling Batman that he wasn't welcome here. Batman asked Croc to stand aside because he didn't want to fight him. Killer Croc states that Batman smelt different, that he smelt like death. Instead of fighting Batman, Killer Croc decides to let him pass. He also says that Batman will die, and when that happens, Croc will feed on his corpse.
Due to being underground, Killer Croc survives Protocol Ten and manages to break his shock collar and escape, so the GCPD do not recapture him when they shut down Arkham City and just find his shock collar.
Pre-Arkham Knight[]
After escaping Arkham City through the sewers, Killer Croc hides in the Gotham City lighthouse and consumes dozens of people whilst imprisoning them in cages. However, he is later captured by Warden Ranken and the Iron Heights Guards who experiment on him, eventually even cutting off one of his hands to be able to recreate his regeneration powers. By the time he breaks free, the trauma has turned him into a massive hulking abomination, and he has become extremely animalistic with most of his lines being incomprehensible growls.
Batman: Arkham Knight[]
“
Wayne! I bet you taste rich!
„
~ Croc to Batman after his identity has been exposed.
The GCPD later placed Killer Croc's shock collar in the GCPD Evidence Lock-up where Cash laments not catching the cannibal although Croc is still imprisoned in Iron Heights at the time.
On Halloween Night however, shortly after Batman gains access to Founders' Island, Killer Croc breaks free and forces the Iron Heights prison balloon to crash into Gotham Bay. Outnumbered and out-muscled, the Guards and Ranken are no match for the prisoners and Croc with many being killed and Ranken has to go into hiding as Croc searches for him to reverse what happened. When Batman investigates and helps injured security guards, Killer Croc appears and grabs the warden, who Batman is trying to save. He drags the warden deeper into the bowels of the airship and straps him onto the chair where Croc was experimented on where, accompanied by other inmates, Croc blames Ranken for his worsened condition and tells the man to fix him. When it is made clear that Ranken is not able to do so, Croc plans to kill Ranken but is stopped by the timely arrival of Batman and Nightwing, who defeat him and the prisoners in a fight. Croc is then brought to the GCPD by the Batwing and imprisoned in a special cell next to his former captor under the watchful eyes of his old nemesis Aaron Cash. Cash later claims that, while Croc bit off his hand, he still pities him. Croc also appears in a hallucination caused by Bruce Wayne being injected with fear toxin by Scarecrow.
What happened to Killer Croc after this is unclear but it's likely that he was sent to Arkham Asylum after it reopened and returned to his sewer cell.
Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum[]
Killer Croc capture by Batman taking him to Arkham. He knocked out staff put him in hospital stretch taking him along with inmates. He was sleeping thank to tranquilizer Batman use however it does not last long then suddenly he wakes up thinking last he remembered Batman show up stop him for escaping. Appearance[]
“
Can you cure me, doc? Can you make me... normal?
„
~ Croc to one of his doctors in one of his interview tapes.
Towering over most incarnations of Killer Croc (befitting the fact that the Killer Croc he's based on was depicted as being this massive), this version of the character stands 10ft (3 m) in Arkham Origins and 11ft (3.35 m) in Arkham Asylum, City and Knight, arguably making him the tallest among un-mutated Killer Croc incarnations. In Arkham Origins, he wore suspenders (which were hanging off and not placed in his shoulders) and armbands reminiscent of Muay Thai fighters. In Arkham Asylum, his debut game, he is slightly bulkier, muscular and taller when compared to his younger Origins self, his armbands have been replaced with bracelets likely used to imprison him with, a massive shock collar around his neck with a chain and shackles around his ankles, also chained.
In Arkham City, he manages to remove his electric collar but his appearance is mostly unchanged from how it was in Asylum, though he looks skinnier, likely due to not having as large a food supply as he did in Asylum. In Arkham Knight, his Arkham Asylum/City model is briefly seen in a monitor screen, but once he is experimented on, his mutation alters his physiology and makes him more animalistic, with stubbier, more crocodile-like legs, scutes and even a long tail.
Personality[]
“
Ah, the sweet scent of defeat...
„
~ One of Killer Croc's game over lines in Arkham Origins, mocking Batman.
Though a sympathetic figure (especially in Arkham Knight), Croc's immense hatred for humanity comes with a sick sense of humour and a voracious appetite for human flesh. He is extremely twisted and bloodthirsty, and thanks to his great size and strength, very overconfident in his ability to take on the Batman and even Nightwing at the same time. He is highly territorial and will kill all who trespass his sewers, ambushing them like a crocodile would, except for those he knows personally. However in Arkham city Tie-in in flashback he met a blind girl name Becky she brings him a circus and takes care of her after sold. after explosion he found Becky lifeless body She was not only his closest friend but also did not treat him like a monster.

Trivia[]
Croc's eating of Cash's hand is a reference to Peter Pan, as well as saying "Tick Tock", a reference to the crocodile that ate Captain Hook's hand along with his clock.
He is partially based on Killer Croc's depiction in the comic Arkham Asylum: Living Hell.
Killer Croc was voiced by Steve Blum in Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight, and Khary Payton in Batman: Arkham Origins.
Despite being 9 feet tall according to the official information in Batman: Arkham City, it lists him as weighing 310 pounds, which is impossible. Batman: Arkham Origins gives him a height of 9'8" and 850 pounds, which is much more realistic.
There may be a plot hole in Killer Croc's origin story, as a skin condition would not cause somebody to grow a tail. In Origins, Batman believes that he may have atavism, a rare disorder that brings back physical traits supposedly lost generations ago, including a "human tail".
On the Iceberg Lounge VIP Room challenge map remastered for Batman: Arkham Knight, if the player reaches a whopping 1,000,000 points, Killer Croc will appear and become a boss fight. It is the only challenge map commentated by Killer Croc.
