The site selection evaluation of photovoltaic applications using analytic hierarchy process in urban areas, China

Published: 16 March 2019 Publication History

Abstract

Site selection of photovoltaic applications in urban areas is a critical issue because the multi influential factors in the complicated urban environment. Multi evaluation methods are used for different site selection studies. Analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is used in this paper to study the site selection evaluation of photovoltaic applications in urban areas, China. The final evaluation model is grouped into three categories as available resources, available extent and sustainable effect. Sunlight conditions were the most influential index, followed by the cost of whole life, which had weights more than 0.1. The weights of meteorological conditions, environmental benefits, economical profits, the available space of land use and the available space of the building complex were all more than 0.06, while the weights of financial support, regulation establishment, technical support, available space of single building, photovoltaic panels be harmony with environmental and the area of photovoltaic panels were between 0.05--0.01. The color and height of photovoltaic panels had the lowest weights. The results of this study are significant for the site selection, implementation and management of photovoltaic applications in the future.
