Abstract
Usability testing is a measure of quality in the area of technology tool development, which allows evaluating the response that a potential user has when facing the tool for the first time. This paper aim is to assess the usability of a web application about Anatomy and Physiology of the Respiratory System developed for teaching-learning in programs offered in the area of Health Sciences by higher education institutions in Colombia. The usability test was conducted based on the MUSiC methodology, which evaluates the following attributes: effectiveness, efficiency, satisfaction, ease of use, memorability, and errors. The instrument developed consisted of 26 questions divided into two categories: solving tasks (4 items) and level of satisfaction (22 items). The trial involved 43 volunteers (38% women, 62% men), including undergraduate students and professionals. The effectiveness of the tool in the different contexts of use proposed exceeded 70%, which is an excellent result for the first potential end-users - software interaction test. However, the satisfaction of the users on solving tasks suggests we include guide boxes in specific modules for facilitating more the development of some tasks (e.g., simulation). In summary, the results obtained show the anatomy and physiology web application can be used intuitively and efficiently, by the academic community related to health sciences.
