Journey Gillson graduated from the College of Health Sciences Services at Northern Arizona University in 2022. She attended NAU with a scholarship from NABI (Native American Basketball Invitational) and made the College of Health Sciences Services dean's list from 2019-2022. Her major was communication science and disorders with a minor is disability studies with a certificate in speech pathology assistance. While at NAU she was a research assistance that studied Native American children that were misdiagnose for speech impediment because of their accent. She will be mentoring undergrad students for Native Forward. She also plans on attending graduate school. She has a passion for sharing her culture and working with Native American patients with speech impediment. Her future goals are to work in the medial field helping patients with traumatic brain injuries and develop a Native American base speech program.
