The latest example is the new partnership between Scottish EDGE and TechScaler. The UK's new government faces the urgent task of revitalizing economic growth and productivity. Our comprehensive report, part of the Framework for Growth research program, examines how to revamp industrial policy according to UK business leaders from various sectors and regions. Our findings, based on interviews with over 60 experts and a survey of 1,200 businesses, suggest a potential £923bn increase in GVA by 2035. Key insights include: A majority of businesses (73%) prefer a better overall business environment over sector-specific strategies. Only 53% of business leaders believe past governments have effectively listened to businesses when forming growth policies, highlighting a need for improved government-business relations. Skills, education, and talent are top growth priorities for over half of the surveyed businesses, followed by digital transformation and infrastructure. Interoperability is important so that DNO’s network data is published in a consistent format, making it easier for stakeholders to consume and use. Reading and Milton Keynes start-ups among eight pioneers on Digital Catapult programme 💼📈 The UK authority on digital technology, Digital Catapult, has welcomed eight tech pioneers to the 'Made Smarter Innovation - Smart Manufacturing Data Hub Sustainability Accelerator' programme so the start-up firms can supergcharge their ambitions. The programme is funded by Made Smarter UK and Innovate UK and sees industry giants like BAE Systems, HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd and Creagh Concrete partner up with smaller firms. It is aimed at improving efficiency in manufacturing in the UK and each company will receive £75,000 to develop proof-of-concept projects, while a further £100,000 will be available for up to four companies to advance to phase two, where they will develop pilot prototypes. Among the eight companies is Reading-based Coraledge Ltd and its Thingitude business, which is focused on using the Internet of Things (IoT) to deliver more efficient operations for clients and better service delivery for the end-customers. It will collaborate with one of the UK’s largest producers of concrete products - Belfast-based Creagh Concrete. The Digital Office for Local Government is delighted to launch their updated Action Plan for 2024 – 2026. This plan details the evolving role of the Digital Office and an action plan to ensure that Scottish local authorities have the infrastructure, support and capabilities in place to increase the pace of digital transformation, and to deliver on the ambitions outlined in the National Digital Strategy.
