Why are staging environments mostly single tenant? Every system from CPUs to computers to SaaS applications are multi tenant i.e it can support multiple users or clients concurrently. Multitenancy enables higher resource utilization for a given system. However staging environments are mostly single tenant - teams testing lack isolation and impact each other. This is a huge drain on developer productivity and release velocity. The first look into the CMA findings should concern all those operating in cloud. In my eyes, the cloud industry is broken if businesses consider high egress fees ‘a price worth paying’ if they want to achieve their cloud strategy. This shouldn’t be an accepted status quo in the cloud space, and it definitely shouldn’t be an accepted way to reach a strategy ‘that makes most sense for their business’. Cloud should be flexible, affordable and support business growth. But currently, the hyperscalers are operating in a way that benefits them and their bottom line instead of their customers’ needs. Challenger cloud providers are leading the charge and putting their customers first, without the need to rely on anti-competitive and harmful practices, and it’s time Big Tech followed suit. The CMA investigation is an opportunity to forge a more competitive UK cloud market. When the CMA comes to make its final decision, I hope they will not waste this opportunity and take decisive action across the board, from ending the scourge of egress fees to service structures that disincentivize switching providers. Patchworks delivered another of our fortnightly releases this week and it contains a great feature as we approach peak trading / BFCM. Composable architectures will always come up against "rate limits" - where a software vendor imposes a concurrency limit on the software's API calls, to protect the platform from being over used, and sometimes on a (justifiable) pay more for more rate limit model. Rate limit per connector has always been in the Patchworks iPaaS, and this week we made it even better by launching "Connection Pools": https://lnkd.in/eJVCaXa3 Rate limits per connector was an issue when multiple flows are running simultaneously (due to schedules, webhooks or queue messages) and Connection Pools lets our partners and merchants set the rate limit for the system and ensures our flows don't exceed that. This means no more NetSuite rate limiting errors for instance, and of course this works for every connector in your stack, whether from our Connector Marketplace or built yourself using Connector Builder. Imagine truly adaptive software systems that react and pivot codebases autonomously. Well, that's where some see the future heading. I'm excited to feature former Gartner analyst Paul Dumas on the Nordic APIs blog today. He's laid out a pretty forward-looking architecture that involves automation and generative AI to create truly adaptive software systems. He calls it autonomic software architecture (ASA). At this point, it's just a suggested framework, but as he says, we have the technology to do this. As of 2024, the US is the biggest market for Masterchannel. A production music platform that integrated our API to optimize production music. 3️⃣ RecoverWorld Online. A digitial 360 music company where Masterchannel is the go-to for mastering music. 4️⃣ Mixlaunch. A distribution company using Masterchannel to help artists master their songs before release. And number 5, and our latest is: 5️⃣ Unchained Music. A digitial distribution platform offering AI mastering, powered by Masterchannel, to help their artists achieve professional sound before releasing their songs. With the UK being such an important country when it comes to new music, it’s no wonder the number of music platforms are growing.
