A dour, sullen album by BBT. It contains none of the weird zaniness that Spawton (Hedgerow, Kingmaker, Keeper of Abbeys) or Longdon (Leopards, Wassail, Judas Unrepentant) brought to the band in previous albums. Nor does it contain any of Spawton's detached sociological commentary on blue collar workers (Swan Hunter, Seen Better Days). This is serious and reflective BBT. Understandable given the circumstances, but let's hope that they lighten up with the next one.
