Sega and Nier’s Yoko Taro are reportedly announcing a new mobile game this week

Sega and Nier series creator Yoko Taro will be announcing a mobile game on Friday, according to a trailer accidentally published early.

Sega released a teaser video today, which doesn’t mention the name of the game, its creator or any other information.

However, as spotted by Gematsu, the wrong version of the video was posted first, revealing the game’s title, creator and other details, before it was quickly pulled.

According to the now removed video, the game will be called 404 Game Re:set, will be developed with Yoko Taro’s involvement, and will be released on iOS and Android.

The currently available teaser video (seen above) shows a phone with lots of Sega icons on its homescreen. It then drops to the ground, and as it falls a Japanese message on the screen reads: “Create, have a bright future”.

It then says “Kill Sega” before landing on the ground and cracking. The video then shows Tokyo, New York, Taipei and Paris being covered in Sega imagery, along with the message “we need Sega”.

It ends with a message reading: “At 8pm on February 10, 2023, an announcement will be made to the public.” This is followed by one that says: “2023/2/10 – The world will change.”

Based on Japan’s time zone, the video therefore suggests that the official reveal will take place on Friday at 5am PT / 8am ET / 1pm GMT.

Other information included in the removed version of the trailer gives details on a pre-registration campaign in which players can earn gems for what appears to be a gacha system.

Yoko Taro is best known for his work on action RPG series Drakengard and its spin-offs Nier and Nier: Automata.

Most recently he was director on 2021 iOS and Android spin-off Nier Reincarnation, as well as a PS4, Xbox and PC remaster of Nier called Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139.
