Upload content with the Package uploader

These features are only available to partners who use YouTube Studio Content Manager.

The Package Uploader lets you quickly upload metadata, sound recordings, and video files to YouTube in bulk. It provides a graphical user interface that enables you to drag and drop the files you want to upload. To create new assets or update existing assets, you need to upload a metadata file (a spreadsheet or an DDEX file) along with the media files for all of the assets.

To upload files using Package Uploader:

  1. Click Content delivery in the left-side menu.

If you never used any of the Content Delivery features before, YouTube will automatically create an uploader account for you the first time you visit one of the Content Delivery pages. You can modify the email address or default channel for the uploader by going to Uploader accounts that can be found under Settings in the left-side menu

  2. Click Validate & Upload.

  3. Select the files to upload.

You can add files to the file list in two ways:

    • Drag the files from your computer and drop them in the file list.

    • Click the SELECT FILES button and select the files you want to upload.

The list of files must include one valid metadata file, either a spreadsheet or an DDEX file. Once added, the metadata file will automatically begin the validation process (a spinning icon will appear.) If needed, add all audio and video files to the package.

  4. Fix any errors in your metadata file.

If the metadata contains an error that would prevent it from uploading successfully, a red icon will appear. Click the button to show the errors in this file.

    • Edit the metadata in the original file. When finished, re-add the file to the Uploader page. If the filename does not change, YouTube will use the newer version of the file and restart the validation process.

If files are missing, add the files to the Uploader page. Validation will automatically restart. When the metadata file contains no errors, you can click the Process package button.

  5. Click Process package.

Depending on the number and size of files uploaded and the complexity of changes, it can take a couple of minutes to a couple of hours to finish processing a bulk upload. You can track the progress of your package and review any error messages on the My packages tab of the Content delivery page.
