Neo Shadaloo

Neo Shadaloo (ネオ・シャドルー, Neo Shadorū^?) is a name used by multiple organizations consisting of Shadaloo remnants, first seen in Ed's character story in Street Fighter V. The name "Neo Shadaloo" primarily refers to a group of former test subjects led by Ed, but other remnants of the original organization began to adopt the name in an attempt to rebuild Shadaloo. Unlike the original organization, Neo Shadaloo is widely decentralized, with multiple different groups at odds with one another using the name. Outside of Ed's group, the Shadaloo remnants are split into two factions; those allied with F.A.N.G, who seek to revive M. Bison, and those allied with JP, who seek to make Ed the new leader. Ed and his group have opposing goals to the rest of Neo Shadaloo and do not wish to revive the organization, instead seeking to help the test subjects, though Ed states he would give being the leader a chance as long as he would get to run things his way.

All three factions of Neo Shadaloo appear in the World Tour mode of Street Fighter 6. Ed appears on his own, with his group having separated for the time being in order to lay low, as a different faction of Neo Shadaloo is in the process of tracking them down with the goal of instating Ed as Bison's replacement and using the power of the other members for their own means. The Bison loyalist faction of Neo Shadaloo is shown operating out of a destroyed Shadaloo base, conducting numerous experiments with Psycho Power. F.A.N.G is shown to be in regular contact with this group, and works with them to track down former Shadaloo operatives in order to rebuild the organization, though he is shown to be in conflict with JP, who heads the initiative seeking to make Ed the leader.

After his resurrection, an amnesiac M. Bison arrives at the laboratory, with the group working to regain his memories and restore both him and Shadaloo to its former glory. Vega and Balrog have also shown interest in joining with the revived Shadaloo, though the latter expresses he may consider siding with Ed's Neo Shadaloo as opposed to the M. Bison loyalist faction.

• Cypher - A man with triangular hairline connecting his beard. He is able to utilize Psycho Power to teleport, and is skilled with knives. He is said to not be very talkative, tending to only give single-word answers.
• Baba Mwalimu - A anthropomorphic gorilla with glowing blue eyes and glowing marks on his body. He was modified to quadruple his brain matter, which left him with heightened intelligence. He is skilled at hacking.^[1] Often accompanied by a golden lion tamarin named Kiki (キキ, Kiki^?), the pet monkey of fellow Doll Santamu.
• Dobermann - A blond, humongous figure who can alter his body mass, based on data collected from Dhalsim.
• Goliath - A baby that wields Psycho Power.^[2]
• Amrita - A dolphin with glowing marks akin to the ones of Baba Mwalimu.^[2]

Overview[]

The organization's goals and intents and their ties to the fallen Shadaloo are, according to Falke's character story, to find and help those who were victims of Shadaloo's experiments, and it has been stressed repeatedly in storylines that both Ed and Falke utterly hated Shadaloo due to both being former replacements for M. Bison. As such, the group is considered to be very much against the original Shadaloo and benign in motivation. However, the former remnants of Shadaloo who also use the name seek to rebuild the original Shadaloo, with views very much opposing that of Ed's.

In Street Fighter 6 however, Neo Shadaloo hired Juri to capture Bosch and recover the funds he stole to stop the Suval'hal tournament. As a result, they used Bosch for Psycho Power-related experiments so that he would represent the organization in the tournament. It's unknown what are the organization's goals and intents for this, some even speculate that they simply want to bring back Shadaloo. However, they are unaware that JP knew their movements and manipulated their actions into unknowingly help him reviving Shadaloo's legacy, albeit without F.A.N.G's notice as well, much to the latter's dismay. In Ed's arcade, Ed split up from his group so they can find more people that are part of Shadaloo's experiments hidden away in many unseen hideouts and deal with many people who originally worked for Shadaloo.

• M. Bison divided his abilities to each member of the Ed faction of Neo Shadaloo. Whether or not he knew he'd confront Ryu one day or that he wants to continue fighting as a fighting king even after death is unknown.^[3]
  • Ed inherited M. Bison's ability to eject Psycho Power.^[4]
  • Falke inherited M. Bison's ability to inject Psycho Power into objects.^[4]
  • Baba inherited M. Bison's wisdom and high intelligence.^[4]
  • Cypher inherited M. Bison's ability to teleport.^[4]
• In Swahili, Baba Mwalimu means "father teacher" which ties into the gorilla's wisdom and high intellect.
  • Likewise, the dolphin's name Amrita is Sanskrit for "immortality", which ties into M. Bison's sinister goal to achieve a perfect body that can safely contain his endless amount of Psycho Power and rule the world forever.
• The visual markings on Baba Mwalimu appear similar to the Pandora effect from Street Fighter X Tekken.
• The naming of the Neo Shadaloo members in Ed’s faction is a pun on the first few letters of the alphabet: A (Amrita), B (Baba Mwalimu), C (Cypher), D (Dobermann), E (Ed), F (Falke), and G (Goliath).
