Story[]
In the Casino Night Zone, Max Gamble's new scheme is to offer holidays to Flickies' Island. The public aren't buying it, knowing it's Doctor Robotnik's hideout. However, Sonic recently defeated him and destroyed his base, so the gathered citizens are much more keen to part with their money and accept a holiday to the "tropical paradise". A few days later, the tourists arrive at the island on a boat, but Gamble is nowhere to be seen. As one of them wonders about being watched, they are suddenly attacked by a robot gorilla.
In Tekno's Workshop, Tekno the Canary has discovered Gamble's new profession and informs Sonic of where he has sent people. Summoning Tails, Sonic takes the biplane to Flickies' Island, hoping they can make it in time. Back on the island, the holiday-makers are busy fleeing from the Badnik, but one is unable to see a covered trap she has just stood on. Fortunately, Tails is on hand to stop her becoming a pancake and Sonic trashes the Badnik with a Spin Attack, freeing the Flicky inside. The gang then narrowly avoid a laser cannon and a massive hammer, so a frustrated Sonic speeds across the island and deactivates all the traps.
Back in the Casino Night Zone, Gamble is enjoying carting around all his money but is dismayed to see that Sonic has brought them all home safely. Gamble doesn't mind too much, as he doesn't legally have to refund them for their experience. Sonic takes the law into his own hand, using a burst of speed to whip up a gust of wind to scatter the money, allowing the tourists to collect Gamble's profits.
Timeline[]
Max Gamble next appears in Gangster Trap, where he says he was hiding in the background during the [[ Eternity Ring (story)|first Eternity Ring]] story. He jumped through the Ring himself because he was being pursued by the police; since that story is in the very next issue after this one, it's probably his holiday scam that's done him in.
The previous Sonic the Hedgehog story was Shady Characters. The next is Back in the Special Zone.
