Packers-Bears ticket prices get cheaper as Chicago looks bad in two consecutive losses

The NFC North division looked vulnerable this week. Minnesota and Detroit won, but only just, and Chicago lost its third consecutive game.

For the Green Bay Packers, who were on their bye week, that's a hopeful sign. The 6-3 Packers are two games behind 8-1 Detroit and one game behind 7-2 Minnesota. They play both on the road yet this season. They lost to those teams at Lambeau Field this year, just as they did last season. But last season, they beat Detroit at Ford Field and Minnesota at U.S. Bank Stadium.

What does that mean for secondary market ticket buyers? Lions and Vikings tickets will remain pricey, but Bear tickets have fallen by quite a bit since Chicago's recent implosion.

Though the average get-in price for Bears tickets dropped $101 during the past week, it's still the hottest ticket of the weekend, according to secondary marketplace Vivid Seats. The average sold price for the game is $477. Kansas City at Buffalo was second at $338. It is the second consecutive week the Packers will take the field with the most in-demand game in the league, which is not a benefit for ticket buyers.

How do we calculate secondary market ticket prices?

For our look at Packers' tickets prices, we average the lowest ticket prices for two seats at 11 secondary-market websites: Event USA, GametimeGreen Bay Ticket Service,  SeatGeek, StubHub, TicketIQ, Ticket King, Ticketmaster, TickPick, TicketSmarter and Vivid Seats.

Note that ticket brokers can add fees on top of the prices listed here, so actual costs might be higher.

The following are secondary market ticket prices as of Monday and our guesses as to why they are where they are.

Note: Green package ticket holders have six home games this year. Gold package ticket holders, many of whom are from the Milwaukee area and southern Wisconsin, have all three NFC North games at Lambeau Field this season.

Nov. 17, noon, Chicago Bears, Soldier Field, Fox

  • Face-price range: N/A

  • Average lowest-cost seat: $303

  • Average lowest-cost seat Oct. 28: $404

  • Range of lowest-cost seats: $227-$410

  • Bears last week: New England Patriots 19, Bears 3

  • The Bears are 4-5.

What is special about this game?  Bears fans, who were probably unreasonably excited about the team's 4-2 start, might be losing heart about this season. The price of this game fell $101 for the average get-in ticket during the past week. Since losing to the Washington Commanders on a Hail Mary three weeks ago, the Bears offense behind No. 1 draft choice Caleb Williams has been ineffective, scoring three and nine points. The defense played well, giving up fewer than 20 points in seven of nine games, but can't overcome an offense that doesn't score.

That said, this is the Packers-Bears game. As noted, it's the hottest game of the weekend, according to Vivid Seats, and it's also the hottest ticket of any Bears game this season. Vivid Seats predicts 18% of fans at the game will be cheering for the Packers.

The Packers pretty much had their way with Chicago for the past 30 years, but it's not a game Green Bay can sleep on. If the Packers want to challenge Detroit for the division title, they need to win their next three games, because with games against the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-8), Indianapolis Colts (4-6) and Bears (4-5), the Lions have a good chance of winning theirs.

Packers, first, and Bears, second, are the two winningest teams in the NFL. The Packers lead the series 107-95-6.

Nov. 24, 3:25 p.m., San Francisco 49ers, Lambeau Field, Fox

  • Face-price range: $132-$175

  • Average lowest-cost seat: $255

  • Average lowest-cost seat Oct. 28: $274

  • Range of lowest-cost seats: $189-$309

  • 49ers last week: 49ers 23, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20

  • The 49ers are 5-4.

What is special about this game? The 49ers are on a two-game winning streak, although both, over the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, were close-run affairs. The Packers do well in regular-season games against the 49ers. They are 4-1 in the regular season in the last 10 years, but 0-4 in playoff games.

The average get-in price is down $19 during the past week, which is about normal as a game gets nearer. It will be the first Sunday of deer-hunting season, and like the Thanksgiving Day game four days later, most Packers fans likely have made their decisions about attending, reducing last-minute demand.

The Packers lead the series 106-76-7.

Nov. 28, 7:20 p.m., Miami Dolphins, Lambeau Field, NBC

  • Face-price range: $132-$175

  • Average lowest-cost seat: $149

  • Average lowest-cost seat on Oct. 28: $186

  • Range of lowest-cost seats: $126-$189

  • Dolphins last week: Dolphins 23, Los Angeles Rams 15

  • The Dolphins are 3-6.

What is special about this game? It's on Thanksgiving Day and it's the first of four consecutive prime-time games for the Packers. The Dolphins have had their problems this season, but when quarterback Tua Tagovailoa plays, it becomes one of those "in the NFL anything can happen" games, as it did to the Rams Monday night. If there is such a thing as a trap game, this would be it for the Packers.Tickets prices fell $37 during the week. As mentioned above, this is during hunting season, and it's the first deer season in some time where the Packers have two home games. Expect that plans are pretty much in place for the game, hunting camp or the Thanksgiving table at home.

The Dolphins lead the series 10-6-0.

Dec. 5, 7:15 p.m., Detroit Lions, Ford Field, Prime Video

  • Face-price range: N/A

  • Average lowest-cost seat: $380

  • Average lowest-cost seat Sept. 2: $289

  • Range of lowest-cost seats: $301-$457

  • Lions last week: Lions 26, Houston Texans 23

  • The Lions are 8-1.

What is special about this game? Detroit fans have visions of a Super Bowl, as, no doubt, do the team's players. Detroit is one of four teams that never played in the big one and something of a rivalry is developing between the Packers and Lions. While these were once among the cheapest games on the Packers' schedule, those days are gone. If the Packers and Lions keep winning, expect prices to retain their value.

Also notable, the Lions are the Packers' longest-consecutive rival. They've played every year since 1932, including the 1982 strike year. The Bears are Green Bay's oldest rival, dating to 1921, but they didn't play in 1982.

Packers lead the series 106-77-7.
