Is it just me, or have Eggman's plans gotten a little... weird?

— Sonic the Hedgehog, "Closed Door Policy"

The Explode-o-nut is an object that appears in the Sonic Boom series. It is a regular coconut turned into a weapon with a Spider Bomb by Dr. Eggman for a strange plot.

Description[]

Outwardly, the Explode-o-nuts look like regular coconuts, except for a hole in their shell, indicating a Spider Bomb is inside. As per their design, the Explode-o-nuts can blow up by having their Spider Bomb detonate, although they can at best inflict bruises. When about to detonate, the Explode-o-nuts' holes will flash red.[1]

History[]

TV series[]

Season one[]

SB S1E31 Knuckles ground pound

Team Sonic returning the Explode-o-nuts, from "Closed Door Policy".

For an absurd plot, Dr. Eggman set out to turn Seaside Island's coconuts into Explode-o-nuts with his Spider Bombs. As he invaded a forest to make Explode-o-nuts however, Team Sonic came and beat Eggman by returning the Explode-o-nuts he used against them as they detonated. While Eggman's plan failed, some Explode-o-nut remained. A dud was used by Team Sonic to fight the Froglodytes, and a stray one would drop in on Eggman, bruising him and destroying the comic he had just bought when it blew up.[1]

Trivia[]

  • According to Amy, the explode-o-nuts indicate mother issues on Eggman's behalf.[1]
