The Sims 2 for Mobile is the mobile phone version of The Sims 2. It was the first The Sims game to be released on mobile phones. The game was available for J2ME and BREW devices, such as the popular Motorola RAZR V3 and Nokia 6620. Before its discontinuation, it was purchasable through app stores such as Verizon's VCAST Get It Now.
Two editions of the game were released, The Sims 2 Connected Edition[2] and The Sims 2 Unconnected Edition[3]. They differed both in gameplay and graphics, with the connected edition being more advanced and reminiscent of the PC version.
Unconnected edition[]
The unconnected edition was released on November 2005 for over 200 phones. The edition itself has different versions to specifically fit each phone’s hardware. They differ graphically and in some instances gameplay-wise as well.

Gameplay[]
The game offers the Create-A-Sim function. In the high-end version, the player is able to choose their sim’s gender, color variation of their clothing, astrological sign and a name from a dozen of pre-defined names. The player is unable to choose hair, skin color or different clothing, In the low-end version, the player is able to choose gender and one of a dozen of pre-defined names. Color variation of clothing, astrological sign and skin color are tied to the names. The main goals of the game are taking care of sim’s needs, improving their skills, socializing with other sims, going to work to earn money, and expanding their house. In order to get a job/get promoted, the player has to interact with other sims and earn skill points. The player can expand their house and buy new furniture with their earned simoleons. It is the first game to feature only adults. Due to hardware limitation, most actions don't have full animations and the sim is instead hidden behind a cloud decorated with icons that suggest what action is currently taking place, i.e. icons of plastic ducks when the sim is taking a shower.
Sims[]
There are six pre-made Sims in the game and they might visit your house at random times. The player may also call them, invite them over or just chat. The following Sims are in this game:

Sims cannot age or have children, as in most mobile The Sims games. They can get married and have sleepovers though. Same sex relationships are also allowed in this game.
Once a number of positive interactions are made, there will be no more reactions. While you can still interact, no negative or positive reaction will be made. If the game is not played for a while, one or two positive or negative reactions will be made, but that is quite rare. Pick the right conversation topics, or else friendships or love will be ruined and are extremely difficult to get back.
Objects and layouts[]
The game first starts out with 3 rooms. A kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom. The bathroom contains a shower, a sink, and a toilet. The kitchen has a table and a chair, a microwave, a fridge, and a few tabletops. No meals can be prepared from the microwave. The bedroom contains a TV, a mirror and a bed. Sims can buy objects by calling the Sim Emporium via the mobile phone. Although they can buy objects, they cannot sell them afterward.
Sims can also upgrade their home by using their mobile phone. Then they can get the following:
- Living Room - §500
- Recreation Room - §1000
