Megamind is the titular main protagonist of the film of the same name. He is voiced by Will Ferrell.
What Makes Him a Shonen Hero?[]
- Heroic/Honorable: Megamind saves Metro City from Tighten and becomes the city's new defender.
- Courageous/Reckless: Megamind is willing to risk his life to save those he cares about.
- Energetic: Megamind has the hyperactivity of a teenager and gets riled up quite easily.
- Stubborn: Megamind usually refuses to listen to Minion's advice, especially when it comes to love.
- Pursues a Big-End Goal: After being sent away from his home planet by his parents, Megamind becomes determined to find his purpose in life.
- Hard-Working: Unlike his rival Metro Man, who was born with superpowers, Megamind keeps up with him with his incredibly high Intelligence and countless gadgets.
- Optimistic: Despite his fair share of misfortunes, Megamind manages to seek his motivation to keep persevering and value the good in his life.
- Determined: As Roxanne once noted, Megamind's refusal to run away from a fight, even if he has no chance of winning, is his best quality.
- Believes in the Power of Friendship: Megamind deeply cares for his best friend Minion and girlfriend Roxanne Ritchi. He eventually gains the respect and admiration of the rest of the citizens of Metro City.
- Possesses Plot Armor: After Tighten threw him straight up into the air, Megamind monologues about falling into his death. Thankfully, he sees a water fountain and dehydrates himself into a cube with his dehydration gun. Once he falls into the fountain, he returns to his normal state and defeats Tighten by taking his powers away.
- Has a Rival: Metro Man is Megamind's rival.
- Oblivious to Love: While Megamind has a crush on Roxanne, he himself was unaware of how she really feels about him until after seeing her being kidnapped by Tighten.
- Short-Tempered: Megamind can get irritated at times, particularly with Minion's stupidity.
- Mischievous: While Megamind created chaos and destruction in Metro City, it is out of pure thirst for fun rather than malice as he refuses to hurt anyone in his schemes.
- Rebellious: At a young age, Megamind developed his reputation as "the bad boy".
- Tragic Past: Megamind has a rather sympathetic past that all play a role in turning him into a supervillain:
- When he was just a baby, he lost his family and his planet to a black hole.
- He landed in a prison and spent his childhood there.
- During his time at school, Megamind was frequently picked on by his classmates (including his teacher), and often was the last one picked for teams. He was even given timeout for petty reasons as he was merely trying to show off his own skills (while they were often dangerous like accidentally causing a fire and deflecting the dodgeballs it was purely self-defense in Megamind case)
- Is a Blood Knight: Even after he becomes a superhero, Megamind still enjoys fighting any opponent who challenges him. In fact, he created Tighten for that purpose.
- Is a Challenge Seeker: As mentioned above, Megamind wants to find a worthy opponent to challenge his abilities, thus why he created Tighten.
- Is a Delinquent: Megamind already began performing crimes in his youth.
