This is in Lacock which is an old village in Wiltshire, England. It became the town of Meriton in the BBC production of Pride and Prejudice. The Abbey and some of the houses were also used in the filming of the first two Harry Potter movies.

Circulating library, Bath, England The first circulating library in Bath was opened in 1728 on Terrace Walk by James Leake, a bookseller and printer originally from London. Books were expensive and heavy at the time so joining a library enabled people to pass time during intervals between taking the water cures. They also became social centers offering more than just books.
