The Baseboard Management Controller1 (BMC) is a specialized processor integrated into the mainboard of server systems. It provides management functionalities for server systems and operates independently as a separate processor. Since the BMC boots before the server system, ensuring quick recovery and backup of the operating environment is crucial in cases of power outages, system failures, and forced system shutdowns. This paper proposes an improved an efficient hibernation technique that consider the BMC operating environment. The proposed technique periodically saves the BMC operating environment and applies an incremental hibernation image saving technique to reduce hibernation image generation overhead and disk usage. It also offers various recovery options based on incremental hibernation images.
