Drawing made of words

Here are some illustrations done for the then-new PBS show, WORD WORLD! In that kid's education program, all objects are made of words, thus prompting kids to read! It was a challenge creating word-shaped illustrations that were accurate, attractive, and enticing to young viewers and readers! Click images to enlarge!

What do you call this type of image in design term?

This is a close up of the eye of a larger portrait of Sophie that I made between May 2010 and January 2011. The whole painting is made from poems which Sophie chose. They have personal significance to her and have therfore become part of her. The text was printed using a standard printer from a computer which was then dissected taking out the spacing between each line as it was applied.
