Biography[]

Manual biography

Lance Corporal Ben Keel died during the Spiker Insurrection-only to be revived as a humanoid battle machine by scientists experimenting with captured alien biotechnology.

Profile

Keel is a cybernetically enhanced warrior: the product of Terran refinements on captured alien bio-engineering. Much more than power-armor, but substantially less than human, this man-machine is programmed to fight, to kill and to overcome the enemy no matter what the odds.[1]

Prima Guide biography

Lance Corporal Ben Keel of the Terran Commonwealth Special Forces was killed on Subic 3 during the Spiker Insurrection as he attempted to rout a nest of rebel artillery. Six months later, Keel was born. A cybronically-enhanced warrior, Keel is a product of alien bioengineering and Terran refinements. While Keel appears to be a human head mounted on a suit of powered armor, he is much more than simply a battle bot. He's also substantially less than human. His programming instructs him to fight and kill without mercy or regard for his own safety. This is not to say that he doesn't defend himself, but Keel's instincts and his hardwired code suggest that the best way to prevent dying is to eliminate all opposition.

In many ways, Keel is the opposite of Stripe. He is almost totally geared for the attack and rarely breaks off combat once it starts. The railgun is his preferred method of destruction, and he is more than competent with it. Keel doles out his respect grudgingly.

Trivia[]

  • In the chat, he is also mentioned by the bots as "Tin Man" and "Metal-Head", "Keely" and "Keel-Hauler".
  • Despite consisting of mostly robotics, he still bleeds when shot.
  • In Quake Live, he is the default model for enemies used when the 'force enemy model' option is turned on. This is likely due to his large size making him more noticeable and best representing player hitboxes.
  • In Quake Live, all the blood Keel is covered in is removed from his model.
  • In Quake Champions, Keel was killed on Subic IV, not Subic 3.
