Mari Suzuki is the posthumous main antagonist of the OMORI alternate universe fanfiction What She Did. She is the college-age older sister of Sunny Suzuki who, in contrast with her pure-hearted original counterpart, groomed him since age 12 and sexually abused him since 16, all while keeping the facade of an altruistic and loving individual like the original Mari genuinely was.
What makes her Pure Evil?[]
- She was a perfectionist who punished Sunny whenever he did something imperfectly, especially if it had to do with playing instruments.
- Starting in her teenage years, she lusted after her younger brother Sunny and wrote about it in her diary.
- She then groomed Sunny for years and taught him that what she was doing to him was normal and that he should not do anything about it.
- She repeatedly and often sexually abused and raped Sunny despite knowing how terrible the psychological toll it took on him was, simply because she enjoyed it.
- This lead to him having nightmares and hallucinating her gaslighting him even after her death., indicating that she probably heavily gaslighted him like that when she was living.
- When Sunny's best friend Rowan found out about what she did, she pointed out that the town was very religious and homophobic. She threatened to out him as gay and smugly told him that no one would believe him and would possibly think he was the one who raped Sunny.
- When she went to college, she would continue her terrible crimes every time she returned home to visit, causing Sunny to dread her visits. This indirectly lead to Mari's death.
- She caused such torment to Sunny that her actions pass the general heinous standard despite her only doing this to one person. This is especially the case because she had low resources and was focused on maintaining a positive public image.
- She is a smug liar who doesn't believe her actions would have any personal consequences for her.
- Nothing indicates that her redeeming factors were anything more than her lies.
- What She Did is not shock value or pornography, as it is a serious psychological exploration about mature subject matter that doesn't go into detail about exactly what Mari did.
