Exar Kun is a major antagonist in the Star Wars Legends continuity.
Exar Kuns role as Dark Lord of the Sith makes matters far much worse on directly following dark side points every step of the way, becoming almost on the level of Palpatine's threat among the Republic and the Jedi. Even after his death, he proved to be a threat to the galaxy by fighting Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- From the beginning, he showed interest in learning more about the dark side, was very arrogant and prideful, looked down on his fellow students, even engaging in somewhat brutal fighting with them, and was very racist, believing that humans were superior to aliens.
- He lied about being an archaeologist to Cal Qel Droma and Tott Doneeta when he was really studying Sith artifacts.
- Even if he was reluctant and not abounding in the light side of the force, when Freedon Nadd forced Kun to choose between death and the dark side, Kun embraced the darkness, never looking back once he fully accepted his extreme hatred and became power-hungry. Upon becoming a Dark Lord,
- He destroys Nadd's spirit upon realizing that he was trying to take over his body.
- He fully gave into the dark side of the force, erasing any possibility of a shred of redeeming qualities for him to have for the rest of his life.
- Kun comes to despise the Jedi Order and the Old Republic, seeing them as weak and ineffective in comparison to him and desiring to get rid of them as well.
- Exar Kun has no problems pushing the galaxy into war regardless of how many lives are lost in the conflict, showing how bloodthirsty and savage he has become to bring back the Sith's Golden Age.
- Kun demonstrates his sadistic side when enacting alchemical experiments on the Massassi by twisting their bodies into war weapons, something that ultimately contributes to the species'eventual extinction when Kun sucks their life to save his own.
- Becoming obsessed with his destiny, Kun decides to be the only Sith and kills anyone who studies the dark side, minus Ulic Qel-Droma, who is proclaimed as his apprentice by Marka Ragnos. However, as petty as he has become, Kun never really cares for his apprentice and just tolerates him for his usefulness, showing that the only one for whom he truly cares is himself.
- Kun and Qel-Droma start the Great Sith War against the Old Republic. Kun acquires a rare Sith holocron early in the war, which he uses to corrupt other Jedi and form the Brotherhood of the Sith.
- Now their leader, Kun, sends the Brotherhood to wreak havoc and kill their masters as he rescues Qel-Droma from Coruscant after being captured, killing Supreme Chancellor Sidrona in the process. And by using his sorcery, he froze nearly everyone present.
- Rescue his apprentice, who, once his usefulness runs out, Kun casts aside and no longer has any use for him, in an example of his extreme selfishness.
- By this point, Kun is showing his respect for Vodo-Siosk Bass, whom he tries to convince to join his cause. He said to him that if he defeated his master, he would make him join him, but after his master says that he will defeat him, he ruthlessly kills him, not even bothering to do the deal, showing that he definitely abandoned any chance of redemption.
- Even the Cathar Crado, who regarded him as his best friend and allowed himself to be recruited by him despite his fall to the dark side, means nothing for Kun, who sends Crado on a suicide mission to get rid of him after failing to kill his own mate under his orders, dismissing him as a "nuisance" and an expendable pawn for his undying devotion towards him.
- His monstrous nature even becomes more apparent when he starts tricking several of his followers into initiating a supernova that devastates countless star systems.
- He and Qel-Droma ransacked the Great Jedi Library for its ancient treasures.
- Following the betrayal of Qel-Droma Kun, he refuses to go quietly as he conducts an ancient ritual to free his spirit from his mortal form so he can wreak havoc through the cosmos before disintegrating into nothingness. However, while Kun's spirit successfully left his body, it remained trapped on the base for the next several millennia.
- Many years later, He tries to persuade Skywalker's Padawans to do his bidding, corrupting Kyp Durron to the dark side and severely wounding Luke, as well as succeeding in tempting Kyp Durron to use the Sun Crusher to destroy the Carida system and killing millions.
Trivia[]
- He is the creator of the double-bladed lightsaber and chronologically the first one to be seen using it, and he also developed the earliest techniques of the lightsaber.
