X Defense, named X Defend before Generation VI, is an usable item in battle introduced in Generation I that raises the defense of a Pokémon for only a single battle. It sharply raises the defense of a Pokémon from Gen 6 onwards. It costs 550 Pokédollars in a store and can be sold for 275 Pokédollars in between Gen 1-6, while it costs 2000 Pokédollars and can be sold for 1000 Pokédollars in Gen 7-8 (In BDSP, X Defense has a price equivalent of the prices during Gen 1-6, while having a cost of 500 Pokédollars and selling for 250 Pokédollars in Let's go Eevee/Pikachu)

They are found in the Celadon Department Store in the Kanto series games along with the Johto games which also have X Defends in the Goldenrod Department Store, the Hoenn games have X Defends found in the Lilycove Department Store, Sinnoh has it in the Veilstone Departmant Store, and finally the Unova region games have X Defense located in the Dreamyard and the Shopping Mall Nine.
