For a list of weather conditions, see List of weather conditions.

Weather exists in the Pokémon World like in real life. Weather has existed as a mechanic in the Pokémon games since Generation II.

Description[]

Depending on the weather condition, certain effects occur in battle, and disappear when time is reset. Only one weather condition can be in effect at a time.

A weather condition can also be summoned through a Pokémon's Ability or through a status move. If a weather condition has been summoned, it takes place for five turns or until it changes into a different one. From Generation III to Generation V, the weather condition from a Pokémon's Ability takes place during an entire battle unless a different one is summoned.

From Generation III onward, the weather changes naturally when the player enters certain areas. For instance, if it is raining in an area, it also occurs during battle in the same area. This weather can only be changed for one turn and then it will appear again.

There are two Abilities that disable the effects of all weather conditions, Cloud Nine and Air Lock, excluding clear weather.
