Upgrade, known as Up-Grade before Generation VIII, is an item introduced in Generation II.

Effect[]

If held by Porygon, it evolves into Porygon2 when being traded. This consumes the Upgrade.

The Upgrade appears in Red and Blue Rescue Team, Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky as an evolution item, similar to the main series games.

If the player has a Link Cable and an Upgrade, Porygon can be evolved into Porygon2 in Luminous Cave or Luminous Spring. After evolution, both items are consumed.

• The Upgrade's description says that it was produced by Silph Co. This stays true even if the Upgrade is produced by Cram-o-matic.
