*After the player character defeats Palmer in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, Palmer says "It brings back a memory of that day long ago... I went out to the lake with your father that day... We were attacked by a wild Pokémon. We fended it off, but I don't recall how." This is a reference to the early events of the story of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, when the player character and [[Barry]] are attacked by a wild Starly at [[Lake Verity]] and fended it off by choosing starter Pokémon from the briefcase.
*In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, his battle has the same music theme as the battle against [[Cynthia]]; however, in Pokémon Platinum, he uses the Frontier Brain battle theme. In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, he uses Cynthia's battle theme once more.
*Palmer is the only Sinnoh Frontier Brain to return in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl due to the absence of the Battle Frontier.
