I pray to the kiln gods some some of these pieces will come out of my first (slightly experimental) gas fire in a few weeks 🤞🏼 #pottery #potter #ceramic #ceramics #clay #stoneware #craftmanship #craftwoman #handmade #pottery #studioceramics #functionalware #homeware #studio #stoneware #wheelthrown #wheelthrownceramics #wheelthrownpottery #porcelain #cup #handle #cups #kickwheel #whiteclay #teacup #trimming #trim #throwing #turningpots #turning" Pottery Cup Handles, Porcelain Ceramics Pottery, Small Ceramic Projects, Throwing Ceramics, Teacup Pottery, Pottery Journal, Teacup Ceramic, Tea Cup Pottery, Throwing Pottery

@leonasceramics on Instagram: "This is my process for trimming wide slip cups. I begin by centering a self-made pre-bisqued chuck and firmly attaching it to the wheel or a bat. Its purpose is to securely hold the upside-down, leather-hard piece while I trim it. In my studio, I keep half a dozen bisque chucks like this, each with different shapes, suitable for many of the sizes and forms I most often create. Sometimes, I also throw them fresh and dry them slightly with the help of a blowtorch right before the trimming starts. I intentionally threw these wide cups with a thick bottom so I can cut it out now. The result is a smooth, flattened, and raised foot, much like the interior of the piece. This foot provides stability and creates a striking contrast with the variegated, organic, seren Ceramic Videos, Clay Tips, Wheel Thrown Ceramics, Organic Ceramics, Wheel Throwing, Pottery Videos, Cut It Out, Pottery Cups, The Upside

Florian Gadsby on Instagram: "Throwing and trimming an angular bowl, starting with how I pick these pots off the wheel. I keep a reclaim bucket to my left that has a sharp plastic lip, this way I can scrape the slip off my palms and fingers, which then allows me to pluck the pots off the wheel without them sticking to hands. This works for vessels like mug bodies, vases and jars, and for those, I cup my hands lightly around the pots and gently lift it away, I’m not squeezing, just making contact. At the exact same moment, I also spin the potter’s wheel, this breaks any sticky seal there might be between the two parts. It’s worth noting that the above works better with some clays than others, for instance, very smooth bodies without any grog can stick to your hands even if you’ve scraped Florian Gadsby Ceramics, Florian Gadsby, I Cup, I Pick, Grog, Two By Two, Wheel, Lips, Bowl
