The term Sky Island (空島, Sorajima?) can refer to any island located in the sky.[1] Known sky islands include:
- Skypiea (consists of Angel Island, Upper Yard, and Shandora)
- Birka (Destroyed)[2]
- Weatheria[3]
- Ballon Terminal[4]
- Merveille[5]
Urouge's homeland is a sky island, although the name of the island has not yet been stated.[6]
While non-canon, Waford was an artificial sky island, though it has since fallen into the Blue Sea.[7]
The existence of sky islands are largely mocked or ignored by many. To those living in the Blue Sea, the idea of an island in the sky seems illogical, impossible, or unbelievable.[8]
Traveling to a sky island is difficult due to their location, although not entirely impossible. There are two known ways to reach a sky island: to ride a current known as the Knock Up Stream, or through something called the "Summit of High West" (ハイウェストの頂, Hai Uesuto no Itadaki?), though details of the Summit are unknown.[1]
