Using them on non woven items like leather will leave a permanent mark. Simply use the pin to slowly wiggle between the fibers so no lasting hole or tearing of fibers occurs. The pin can be used from left to right or right to left. Just rotate the eye pin to the side of your choice before you begin. It is adjustable for use by right and left handed people.
