Leslie Saeta on Instagram: "I know it’s not perfect. But I love the loose and impressionist look of using a palette knife. I painted seascapes and abstracts for years using only a palette knife. So why not paint a cake? With frosting of course. It took some practice but I loved making this. And I also love that there is no right or wrong! The sculpted buttercream florals is definitely a work in progress for me - it’s bringing me so much enjoyment learning though! Marjorie Rego on Instagram: "Buttercream painting is one of my favourite ways to decorate. I love the rustic simplicity ❤️. Here are some tips for success: ❤️ Allow your cake to set in the fridge for around 20 minutes or more before you start painting. ❤️ Start with your darkest colour first. Use a flexi scraper to smooth out the buttercream. ❤️ Add small amounts of a lighter coloured buttercream on top and smooth it out with your palette knife. ❤️ Use a clean paintbrush to create a feathered effect and lightly blend the two colours. ❤️ Finally, add the lightest coloured buttercream in a similar way to finish your design. The most important thing is to have fun and choose an abstract design, so you really can't go wrong! Follow along to see the finished cake ❤️" Painted Cakes Buttercream, Rustic Buttercream Cake, Cake Painting Tutorial, Buttercream Painting, Start Painting, Tips For Success, Painted Cakes, Palette Knife Painting, Knife Painting
