I am a total fan of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. He rocks. His school; Glasgow School of Art. Why, oh why did I go to business school? If I only knew a glimpse of then what I totally feel now.

Avril Paton, who was born in Glasgow in 1941 during the wartime blitz is the daughter and grand-daughter of Hugh and Donald Paton who were both landscape painters on the Isle of Arran. Mardi Gillies, her mother, met and married Hugh when they were both attending Glasgow School of Art in the late thirties.

The Glasgow School of Art has sent debris to 25 top artists to create works to be sold at an benefit auction for reconstruction.

Just a few weeks ago I was watching a documentary about Charles Rennie Mackintosh with my parents, which had been made to celebrate the 150th anniversary of his birth, and I covered my eyes at the images of the 2014 fire at Glasgow School of Art. A few days later my blog was mentioned as "further reading" about his Japanese symbolism for those attending a talk at a library in Kansas City, Missouri. Then, a week after that, I looked at Twitter first thing in the morning and wondered why…
