We began our second day of "Queens of Art" with a delicious breakfast (prepared by our fabulous hostess Karen Hillman) and a champagne toast! Our first workshop of the day was "On the Wings of Love" crown taught by lovely and talented Judy Stafford. She altered and embellished cigar boxes to hold our supplies for the project. There’s just something about tile. I don’t know if it’s the hand-hewn texture, the rich colors, or just the fact that it’s so darn durable and easy to clean (yes, I know, grout lines can be another story), but I’ve been a fan of ceramic squares, rectangles, and mosaic tiles for as long as I can remember.

Entitled "Blue Garden", I used a deconstructed Willow Pattern plate, set in a collection of blue-and-white china, glass beads and recycled mirror. The pine frame was handmade by my husband Gareth.
