Designer's note[]
"This is, technically speaking, my "first" LEGO set :D, as I started and finished working on it first among my 3 models in this wave. I was handed a wonderful sketch model by the mech master Niek van Slagmaat (Toothdominoes) and tasked to bring it to the final stage, while learning everything about the development process of an official LEGO product.
With the basics pretty much set by the previous wave of EVO mechs, I think it was a perfect starting point for me to not be overwhelmed on my first go. That said, I still tried my best to bring something new to the table, so that fans who got the previous EVO mechs may still get little surprises building this. That's where I came up with the idea of making the separable weapon and shield-hat/hat-shield (depending on your perspective on matters) on the Bone Warrior's mech, and the "boomer-wing" on Lloyd's Golden mech (I don't think we have ever officially agreed if it was meant to be a big blade or a boomerang - it's up for imagination! I did always see it as a boomerang myself ;) ) This feature was heavily inspired by what set me on the path of being a LEGO fan all those years ago - Bionicle!
Another thing I'm pretty proud of with this model, is that I managed to get the Nexo shield tiles printed as a deco - I hope the fans would appreciate it! Shoutout to Renato for the awesome graphics on that tile, as well as the rest of the graphics team (Michael, Angel and Margit) for the cool figures and banner that brought the models to life, and Michael M. who did the building instruction. Teamwork!"[2]
Trivia[]
- Golden Dojo Lloyd is exclusive to this set.
