Reconfiguration-Driven Assembly Of Inorganic Nanomembranes, Divya Jyoti Prakash 2025 University of New Mexico

Reconfiguration-Driven Assembly Of Inorganic Nanomembranes, Divya Jyoti Prakash

Chemical and Biological Engineering ETDs

This thesis focuses on the guided self-assembly of metastable nanomembranes (NMs) that are either amorphous or polycrystalline. Guided self-assembly of NMs is a robust and scalable method to obtain a variety of three-dimensional structures such as helices, rolled-up tubes, and networks of interconnected channels. These 3D structures have important applications as on-chip actuators, sensors, inductors, transformers, waveguides, and antennas. Furthermore, a large amount of strain and strain gradient can be imparted in NMs by bending them to a nanoscale and microscale radius of curvature, making guided self-assembly on NMs a viable route to extreme strain engineering of amorphous and polycrystalline …

This paper presents the design, fabrication, measurement, and evaluation of two multiple input multiple output antenna elements (MIMOs) optimized for performance in the 5G frequency band. The MIMO antennas are integrated onto Roger/Druoid 5880 substrates with a dielectric constant of 2.2, housed within a compact volume measuring 20×24.14×0.79mm3. Initially, a thorough parametric study is conducted using the CST Electromagnetic (EM) Simulator to analyze and optimize the antenna's performance according to 5G application requirements. Subsequently, in the antenna design phase, calculations are made for the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC > 0.01dB) and diversity gain (DG > 9.9dB), yielding favorable outcomes. Fabrication and measurement …

The antenna is structured in three dimensions, employing a conductive cylindrical cone as its base. This cone configuration is achieved through the etching of an elliptical slot array onto the antenna. To enhance its performance, a conductive circular reflector is situated beneath the cone, thereby augmenting its gain. The antenna demonstrates operational bandwidth across various frequencies: Ultra-Wideband (UWB) operates at approximately 5 GHz, extending to about 15 GHz; Wideband (WB) is cantered at roughly 20 GHz, while narrowband operates at approximately 27 GHz. Within the frequency range of interest, the antenna's gain varies between 3dBi and 15dBi. Geometric specifications of …

Predicting The Indirect Cost Of Construction Projects In Egypt: An Artificial Neural Network Approach, Aya Effat 2025 American University in Cairo

Predicting The Indirect Cost Of Construction Projects In Egypt: An Artificial Neural Network Approach, Aya Effat

Theses and Dissertations

Cost estimation is one of the vital processes in construction management that needs to be done early in any project in order to determine the project's budget. The accuracy of the cost estimate is a key factor in the success of construction projects since it enables project managers to successfully control the project’s expenses. Construction costs mainly consist of direct cost and indirect cost. Generally, indirect costs can be categorized into two types: site overheads and general overheads. In a construction project, overheads, particularly site overhead costs, make up a considerable portion of a contractor's budget. Accordingly, accurately estimating the …

Advanced Construction Scheduling: Capturing Conditional And Stochastic Relationships, Amr Elsabagh

Theses and Dissertations

Proper planning is a key factor in all business endeavors. This is especially important in the construction industry as a project is sensitive to countless factors that affect the project's time and cost. This created the need for agile and flexible schedules for close monitoring and dynamic planning for construction projects. The currently prevailing scheduling techniques are CPM and PERT, which professionals in the field widely use. These methods create static schedules that are vulnerable to any changes in the schedule logic, which often happens during construction projects. In addition, these Scheduling techniques do not capture the uncertainties and complex …

Turbulent Shockwave/Boundary-Layer Interactions Generated By Sharp Swept Fins, Dustin Levi Otten 2024 University of Texas at Arlington

Turbulent Shockwave/Boundary-Layer Interactions Generated By Sharp Swept Fins, Dustin Levi Otten

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Dissertations

The shock/turbulent boundary layer interaction (STBLI) generated by a sharp fin with a 60 deg leading edge sweep mounted above a flat plate at Mach 2.5 was studied numerically. Incipient separation due to this highly swept fin was determined by varying the fin angle to the incoming freestream. The effect of a small fin/plate gap on STBLI incipient separation was established. Sweeping the fin increases the deflection required for incipient separation as the sweep reduces the interaction strength. A gap causes flow leakage under the fin, further reducing the interaction strength on the windward side. The incipient angle of attack …
