Shout! Studios (formerly known as Shout! Factory) is a home entertainment and music company which has produced DVDs primarily by licensing various television and film properties, often targeting niche audiences.
In August 2018, it was announced that the company acquired the rights to distribute Sesame Workshop video releases, including existing and new Sesame Street titles.[1] Shout! Factory previously released DVDs of The Electric Company in 2006, including the guest appearances by the Sesame Street Muppets.
On August 9, 2022, The Jim Henson Company signed a worldwide distribution deal with Shout!, giving them streaming, broadcast and home entertainment rights for select series and specials from the Henson catalogue.[2]
On January 5, 2024, The Jim Henson Company announced their partnership with Shout! would be expanded to include worldwide distribution rights to The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. The deal included all formats as well as limited non-theatrical rights, and also included the Inside the Labyrinth and The World of the Dark Crystal documentaries. The two films would be released onto digital platforms in the United States starting February 6, 2024.[3][4]
