Season 26 version
"Read Me a Story" is a Sesame Street song first performed by Big Bird in Episode 1787, requesting Maria's help reading from his storybook.
The song was remade for a Season 26 insert, where Zoe wishes for a grownup to read her a story. Big Bird offers the song as a solution, and when Maria comes by, Zoe sings it to her. Maria agrees to be her designated reader and reads Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Big Bird joins them, prompting Maria to wonder, "Haven't I heard that song before?" (First: Episode 3388)
Big Bird and Rosita performed the original, shortened version of the song when they appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1997 to promote children's literacy.
