Port Observation Deck is a room on the G.F.S. Valhalla. It appears in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Description[]

This room has two parts to it. The first part is a small room with debris covering most of the room and a dead Space Pirate that was crushed by the debris. There is a small Morph Ball tunnel to the left of the debris that Samus can use to reach a Blue Door that leads to the second area of the room. The second area is larger than the previous area and is depressurized due to hull damage. It consists of an Energy Cell Station that will power up a nearby Blue Door if Samus places an Energy Cell into it. On the other side of the room Samus can find a large door with locking mechanisms on it. After Samus opens the locks with her Seeker Missiles, a dead unscannable Federation Marine can be seen floating along with compressed air, turning to dust once the body hits a wall. Phazon Metroids can be seen outside of the windows, floating within deep space. All adjacent rooms are pressurized and should Samus attempt to enter through any of these doors, she will be slowly pushed by Air pressure, which fogs up her Visor.

This room's Olympus counterpart appears to be the Lab Access.

Scans[]

Space Pirate corpse
"Subject appears to have held an energy grenade for too long. Crushed by falling debris."
Debris
"Debris caused by explosion. A small opening near the bottom is too tiny to fit through normally."
Locking mechanisms
"Locking mechanisms activated. A simultaneous blast to all targets is required to disengage locks."
Blast Shield
"Blast Shield was engaged when door lost power. Restore power to nearby station to remove shield."

Development notes[]

The room's internal name is 0f_abandoned_fightercrash, named after its G.F.S. Olympus counterpart h07_gfship_fightercrash (Lab Access) which has a similar layout and location on the ship. The keyword abandoned indicates the G.F.S. Valhalla, and the alphabetic prefix 0f indicates that this is the sixth of 11 junction rooms on the G.F.S. Valhalla.

Trivia[]

  • In this room, a deceased Marine body is seen floating within decompressed space, whereas a Gravity Suit-less Samus is not. This is highly inconsistent as earlier on board the Olympus, Samus was seen floating in mid-space through an air lock.
