The Second Battle of Deneva was an engagement during the Earth-Romulan War fought between the Coalition of Planets and Romulan Star Empire over the planet Deneva.

History[]

Background[]

The planet Deneva was one of Earth's major colonies when it was captured by Romulan forces after a brief battle. At the time of this battle Earth forces had already won two major battles at Berengaria and Altair VI and were hoping to build on this momentum with a victory at Deneva.

The Battle[]

The Coalition fleet, comprised of thirty-three vessels with eleven being Earth ships, was led by the starship Enterprise (NX-01), with the IGS Weytahn joining the fleet on its way to liberate the planet. The space battle happened quickly with Romulan vessels being destroyed quickly after a vicious fight in which three Earth warships were destroyed and the other Coalition vessels took very heavy losses. After the space above the planet was secured, MACO ground forces were deployed. They managed to dispatch the Romulan forces after half a day of heavy fighting.

Aftermath[]

Afterwards, it was discovered that the thousands of Denevan colonists trapped on the planet had been massacred by the occupying forces. The Coalition gains another victory and retakes another former colony, but with the heavy losses that the Andorians and Tellarites suffered here and at other locations, the two government choose to withdraw from the war, leaving Earth and her colonies standing virtually alone aginst the Romulans.
