Mahmud al-Khaled was a male Human of Middle Eastern descent, who served as a Starfleet officer and engineer in the 23rd century.

Biography[]

His first assignment in Starfleet was at Starbase 2, where he regularly performed repairs on a variety of vessels, including ground craft, sub-orbital ships, and starships. (SCE eBook: Foundations, Book Three)

By the year 2264, he held the rank of Lieutenant, and served as head of the Corps of Engineers team aboard the USS Lovell, as well as second officer to the ship's commander, Captain Daniel Okagawa. He was promoted to Lieutenant commander in 2266. (SCE eBooks: Foundations, Book One, Distant Early Warning, VAN novel: Reap the Whirlwind)

In 2269, after the destruction of the Lovell, al-Khaled and many of the crew were reassigned to Starbase 11. Later that year, he was promoted to Commander and given command of the USS Aephas, a Miranda-class science vessel. (Seekers novel: All That's Left)

Al-Khaled was married by 2275, when his daughter, Alhena al-Khaled, was born. (SCE eBook: Foundations, Book Three)

In 2280, al-Khaled was aboard the USS Chandley to work on a new engine designed by the Kelvans, when a malfunction temporarily stranded the ship in Sector 68H. Upon his return to Earth, al-Khaled accepted the newly-created position of Starfleet Corps of Engineers Command Liaison. (SCE eBook: Foundations, Book Three)

In the 24th century, Mahmud al-Khaled's picture hung prominently in the Tucker Memorial Building at Starfleet Command. (SCE eBook: The Future Begins)
