Free Spirit was a 22nd century two-person civilian freighter.
Service history and disposition[]
In the 2150s, Free Spirit was operated by Rachel and Isadore Cohen, a pair of independent merchants.
During the Earth-Romulan War, Free Spirit was part of a mercy convoy of non-combatant freighters that ferried cargos of relief supplies to war-torn colonies in outlying areas. On reference stardate 1/073.21, a Romulan warship attacked the convoy and destroyed six unarmed vessels. The Cohens feigned being helpless to draw their attacker closer. At the cost of their lives, they then overloaded Free Spirit's warp engines. The resulting blast crippled the warship and allowed 23 other convoy ships to escape.
