An incision was a type of wound usually produced by a surgical tool, such as a scalpel, with the goal of facilitating surgery on an internal portion of one's body. One procedure involving incisions was the Caesarean section. (TNG: "Galaxy's Child")

In 2268, James T. Kirk questioned whether there were any marks, cuts or incisions on the bodies of the dead on Argus X, from which their red corpuscles could have been extracted. Doctor Leonard McCoy reported none. (TOS: "Obsession")

In 2367, Data suggested a force field containing an inert gas could be placed over Ishara Yar's incision site so that her proximity detector could be removed and disarmed at the same time. (TNG: "Legacy")
