Vedanta Sesa Goa contributed 5 lac meals as part of the #RunForZeroHunger campaign. The campaign was so designed that once registered on the ‘Step, Set Go’ app, for every kilometre logged a corresponding number of meals would be contributed by Vedanta for those in need including children, the elderly and as well as animals. The campaign was run as part of the overall effort for the 3rd edition of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon.
During the 68 day campaign, Vedanta Sesa Goa organised 50 plus events which witnessed enthusiastic participation from its employees and business partners across 5 states including Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Odisha. In Goa, special events were organised at Bicholim, Sankhli, Panjim and Amona.
The commitment demonstrated by the participants for the noble cause of #MealsForAll was tremendous with over 20 individuals from Vedanta Sesa Goa logging over 2000 km and an additional 50 plus individuals logged over 1000 km during the 2-month plus duration of the Campaign. Ratnesh Kumar and Ramjan Ali led the effort with their individual contributions of over 2900 meals each.
Navin Jaju, CEO, Sesa Goa, stated during the Closing Ceremony “I congratulate each and every member of Vedanta Sesa Goa for their commitment shown to the #RunForZeroHunger. The ~5 lac meals contributed are an exceptional demonstration of ‘giving back’ to the society and I am extremely proud of our collective effort to make this world ‘hunger free’.
“The 68 day campaign links the noble goal of eradicating hunger with that of our personal and mental well-being. I feel privileged to have been a part of the,” Jaju said.
The initiative was also combined with the goals of the ‘Swachch Bharat’ campaign of the Govt. of India and joint events coinciding with the ‘Swachchta hi Sewa’ campaign were also conducted.
These involved conducting walkathons to spread awareness on cleanliness and hygiene and in the process also led to contributions for the #RunForZeroHunger campaign. These events drew community participation across states and especially from students. Sesa Technical School & Sesa Football Academy, Vedanta Sesa Goa’s flagship CSR initiatives, were actively involved in mobilizing the youth for the initiative.

Speaking during the Closing Ceremony, Ratnesh Kumar, from Vedanta Sesa Goa Security Department said “ I come from a humble background and while it is not possible form me to support people in need on a large scale, the #RunForZeroHunger provided me the opportunity to break through the limitation.
“By walking day in and day out I was able to muster nearly 3000 meals and I am happy that now even I am able to provide for those in need. The Campaign is extremely meaningful and I am thankful to Vedanta for having come up with the concept which allows all of us to contribute to the betterment of the society and the world around us,” Kumar said.
Vedanta Group’s 3rd edition of #RunForZeroHunger campaign witnessed participation from over 36000 individuals and 20 Vedanta Group companies contributing 10 million plus meals.
