- "I apply foot to ass. And match lead for lead. I put murderers in handcuffs. I don't just seek justice, I stalk it."
- âMisty Knight to Gabe Krasner[src]
Detective Mercedes Kelly "Misty" Knight is a police officer with the New York City Police Department stationed at the 29th Precinct Police Station. During her criminal investigation of Cottonmouth and the Stokes Crime Family, Knight encountered Luke Cage who had been involved in every aspect of her current investigation. Once Rafael Scarfe and Stokes were both murdered, Knight became determined to discover the truth, putting her into conflict with Mariah Dillard and Diamondback while her superiors encouraged her to find and arrest Cage. However, Knight attempted to arrest Diamondback, leading to her being saved by Cage and informing the world of his innocence until Candace Miller could testify to convict Dillard, but before she could, Miller was killed by Shades. Dillard went free but Knight remained determined to finally bring her to justice.
Knight waited for Cage to be freed from Seagate Prison and requested his help in solving another case; however, this led to Knight becoming involved within a fight against the Hand along with the Defenders, which then placed several of their friends in protective custody after they had become involved. Knight then waded into the final battle at Midland Circle after realizing that Colleen Wing had just stolen the explosives in order to destroy the building, and in the process lost her right arm saving Claire Temple from being beheaded by the Finger of the Hand Bakuto. Knight was then taken into the hospital owned by Rand Enterprises in order to begin recovering. She was later outfitted with a Bionic Arm to help her recovery.
Returning to work, Knight found herself the source of ridicule owing to her new disability, forcing her to prove her worth to her co-workers. Refocusing her efforts on bringing down the last of the Stokes Crime Family, Knight had once again joined forces with Cage as they found Mariah Dillard was now being targeted for assassination by Bushmaster, forcing both Knight and Cage to protect Dillard in order to keep Harlem safe from Bushmaster's rage. When Shades chose to snitch on Dillard, Knight was able to get the evidence needed to bring Dillard down. Upon being offered the captain's position, Knight took some time off and assisted Danny Rand and Colleen Wing in their fight against Davos, who had taken the power of the Chi for himself, bringing him to justice while Knight had still continued to debate her future career with the NYPD.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Given A Reason[]
- "I was hanging out with my cousin, Cassandra. My mother told us never to walk around the neighborhood by ourselves but it was hot, and I was thirsty. And she was taking way too long talking to some cute boy. So I went to Ruiz Bodega by myself and got a lemonade. When I got back, she was gone. It took the cops two weeks to find her body. Disfigured, beaten. The boy, Mike Jones, ran a train on her with his crew."
- âMisty Knight to Gabe Krasner[src]
During the summer of 1995, Misty Knight was spending time with her cousin, Cassandra. While they were out, Cassandra started talking with Mike Jones, an attractive boy who approached them. Although her mother warned them to never walk around the neighborhood alone, Knight was thirsty and went to Ruiz Bodega alone to buy some lemonade. Upon returning, Knight found that Cassandra was gone. Two weeks later, the New York City Police Department found Cassandra's disfigured and beaten body, with Cassandra having been raped and murdered by Jones and his crew. Since the perpetrators did not reveal themselves and the NYPD did not care about the life of someone like Cassandra, Jones and his got away unpunished, much to Knight's ire.[1]
Basketball Star[]
- "Misty was a year behind me at DeWitt Clinton. Both varsity. She took my spot when I twisted my knee."
"I earned my spot. And never gave it back." - âNandi Tyler and Misty Knight[src]
Playing basketball at the Saint Nick's Playground, Knight became one of its legends in 1996, and her initials were painted on the ground of the court.[3] Eventually, Knight went to DeWitt Clinton High School where she joined a school basketball team, alongside with Tasha Bowles and Nandi Tyler. Knight was attracted by Tyler who was a star of their team and impressed everyone who watched her playing. When Tyler twisted her knee, Knight replaced her, however, she stayed at Tyler's spot even when she returned to the team.[5]
Before their team went to a tournament in Philadelphia, Tyler told Shaw that Bowles stole the wallets from attendees. Shaw had to kick Bowles out of the team and without her, the team lost the match. As the team returned from Philadelphia, Knight talked with Bowles about her situation and Bowles told her that she had a deal with Tyler who planned this to get Bowles kicked off the team.[6]
NYPD[]
Unwelcomed Rookie[]
Years later, Knight joined the New York City Police Department, and was stationed in the 29th Precinct Police Station in Harlem, under Priscilla Ridley' commands. As Knight was promoted to Detective, she was not really welcome by her colleagues, as nobody wanted to deal with her. However, she then was approached by Rafael Scarfe who saw her potential and decided to work with her. Scarfe and Knight became partners and good friends, as he taught Knight everything she knew about the police.[7]
Once, Knight attended a date with some man who was recommended by one of her colleagues. However, Knight made a background check and learned that he was wanted for robbery in three different states. Meeting him at the date, Knight suddenly arrested the man, who was later nicknamed at the precinct as "Love Bandit".[1]
Arrest of Cockroach Hamilton[]
- "Anybody ever tell you too bad to be a cop? You need to use them hips for something better, Ma. I could help with that."
"You need to shut your mouth." - âCockroach Hamilton and Misty Knight[src]
Knight and her partner, Rafael Scarfe, investigated Dontrell Hamilton, who went by Cockroach. During their search of his home, they could not find any incriminating evidence, but Scarfe pushed them to keep looking. He came out of a room a few minutes later holding a gun, claiming to have found it. Hamilton told them it was not his, but they arrested him anyways.
Later, Knight was doing research on Haverland, but could not find incriminating evidence. Scarfe told her that they could always plant evidence to frame her. He claimed it was not framing if they were guilty anyways. When Knight was about to say something, he laughed, saying it was a joke. Knight laughed along with him. Scarfe then left to go to a New York Mets game with his son.[8]
Scarfe's Mourn[]
Knight went to work and found Rafael Scarfe in the interrogation room crying. As it turned out, Scarfe accidentally left his gun out and his son shot himself with it and died. Knight comforted Scarfe, who claimed it was god's way of punishing him for everything he had done.[8]
Stokes Investigation[]
Meeting Luke Cage[]
Knight met Luke Cage in Harlem's Paradise. Cage, who was bartending that night, started up a conversation and flirted with her. So they met again in the street and Cage told her about where the bus station is, noting that she was about to call an Uber. She asked him to get a cup of coffee with her, and Cage agreed. They then went to Cage's apartment and had sex.
They slept until Cage was woken by a nightmare about his past in Seagate Prison. He said that he saw Knight was taking a call. And Knight also stated that Cage was talking in his sleep. She'd heard him talk about Shades and Comanche. She got dressed and left his apartment, Cage watching from the window as she went.[2]
Awkward Reunion[]
Knight and Rafael Scarfe were assigned to the Dante Chapman murder case. Knight questioned some teenagers on her old basketball court, who she knew had connections to Chapman. The teenagers were reluctant to talk, and she made a deal with one of them; if she beat them in a game of basketball, he had to tell her everything he knew. Knight, who'd played basketball for most of her adolescence, easily beat him.
Their investigation led them to Pop's Barber Shop. Before they entered, Knight encountered Turk Barrett on the sidewalk. She threatened him, and then joined Scarfe inside the shop. Knight greeted Pop, while Cage recognized the voice. When Cage came out from the back, Knight pretended that they hadn't met before. The four of them spoke about Dante Chapman, Shameek Smith, and Chico Diaz[2]. Scarfe and Knight urged them to give them a call if they saw Diaz was leaving. They then left the barber shop.[3]
Pop's Death[]
Tone shot up Pop's Barber Shop, killing Pop and injuring Diaz; Luke Cage and Lonnie Wilson both survived unharmed. When the New York City Police Department came to investigate the crime scene, Knight approached Cage and asked if he was alright. She questioned Cage about how he survived the bullets, but Cage refused to answer. All he would say was that he'd acted on instinct and shielded Wilson. Knight then asked him how long he'd been working at Pop's, and if Diaz had been hiding at the shop the whole time. Cage did not answer the latter question. Knight then left him alone.[3]
Cottonmouth's Robbery[]
The next morning, Knight and Rafael Scarfe investigated a murder. Scarfe concluded that whoever did it knew what they were doing. Knight asked if it could be a part of Cottonmouth's crew, Scarfe said they wouldn't know until they get to a computer. Scarfe also said the victims claimed the assailant was Spanish speaking. They then decided to meet with Chico Diaz to get a "first person ID". They did rock, paper, scissors on who drives. Knight won, so Scarfe had to drive. Scarfe and Knight visited Diaz in the hospital to question him about his involvement in Chapman's murder. Diaz refused to talk, and Knight encouraged him to give them a call.
As they left Diaz's room, they bumped into Luke Cage in the hallway. She then stopped him and told him he couldn't go any further. He was the only suspect to be seen in both Pop's Barber Shop and Harlem's Paradise, connecting him to the murders of Dante Chapman, Shameek Smith, and Pop. Cage then asked her to find the real killer instead of bothering him, but she replied that their business is the same. Cage then walked past her to get to Diaz's room. Later, Knight and Scarfe were called to the scene of a break-in, where Cage had infiltrated one of Cottonmouth's house. Only one woman had witnessed Cage. When Knight and Scarfe asked her about the "mysterious hooded man", she simply replied that he looked fine.
Later, as Knight stared at a photo of Cage breaking into Crispus Attucks, she envisioned him doing so in great detail. Scarfe talked about how Cage might not be too bad for the city. The police spend time to put the gangs into the ground just for them to start up again, but Cage just does it all himself. Knight argued that a vigilante breaks the system and rules. Scarfe said that cops can't do much except arrest the same people over and over again. Knight claimed Cage has no responsibility. Scarfe suddenly got a call from Diaz, who wanted to talk. Scarfe asked if Knight wanted to come, but she said she had work.[4]
Destruction of Genghis Connie's[]
Knight got a call that Genghis Connie's blew up. When she arrived on the scene, she saw the wreckage. She returned to the precinct to do investigating and found that a bazooka was shot at the building. Knight concluded it was Cottonmouth's doing. She did more investigating and found a car leaving the scene but could not tell who it was. She returned to the wreckage and saw the rubble moving, not knowing what it was. She then found Luke Cage breaking through the rubble holding Connie Lin. After Lin was hurried away, Knight approached Cage to ask how he was doing. He told her, "not now".[9]
Pop's Funeral[]
Knight attended Pop's funeral. When Luke Cage came in, everyone stared as he sat down beside Aisha Axton. She listened as Cornell Stokes and Cage each made a speech about their fallen friend.
After the funeral, Knight approached Cage who just left from confronting Stokes. She said that he has caused Harlem to be involved with his heroism and that she wanted to legally take down Cottonmouth, but Luke refused, as he knew it would only lead to Stokes getting out of jail. She then told them that Harlem was vulnerable and wasn't bulletproof like he was, and told him to leave before he could make things worse. Cage replied that he had nowhere to go, and entered Pop's Barber Shop alone.[10]
Rafael Scarfe's Death[]
Knight arrived on the scene of Luke Cage, Claire Temple and Rafael Scarfe. She almost crashed into them, but Cage blocked her car. The car was wrecked, but Knight was alright. Knight got out of her car and rushed to Scarfe's side, comforting him. Scarfe apologized to her and died, with Knight mourning her lost partner.[7]
Arrest and Release of Cottonmouth[]
Cottonmouth was arrested on the basis of Scarfe's confessions. But he called his lawyer, Benjamin Donovan and he did his work to defend Cottonmouth. After Donovan's effort, Cottonmouth was released from holding. Knight confronted them as they left. She stood face to face with Cottonmouth; he compared her to a dog. Knight replied with a promise to put him in the prison where he belonged.[11]
Threatened by Diamondback[]
Luke Cage, badly wounded by Diamondback's Judas Bullet was in a women's clinic with Claire Temple when he received a phone call from Knight. She informed him that he was wanted for murder. Temple then told Knight that he physically could not have murdered anyone; they had been with each other for the past day. Temple also told Knight where they were. Knight soon arrived at the clinic. She expressed surprise at Cage's injury and questioned them about their actions over the past day.
As they spoke, Temple noticed a red laser on Cage's head. She yelled a warning, allowing Cage to dodge the shot, which came from Diamondback. Knight pulled out her gun and took a few shots at Diamondback, all of which missed. Cage attempted to fight Diamondback, but he was still weakened from the Judas Bullet; Diamondback easily took him down. He then grabbed hold of Knight and dragged her outside. He took her gun and taunted her, saying that Cage liked a woman with dark skin and frizzy hair, like her and Reva Connors. Diamondback then pointed the gun at her head, hoping that she'd beg for mercy. Instead, Knight told him that if he wanted to shoot, then just do it. Diamondback forced her onto her knees and placed the gun behind her head, but he did not shoot her. He explained that he would continue hurting her to make Cage suffer. He then knocked her out and escaped.[12]
Pursuing Luke Cage[]
Still, in pursuit of Luke Cage for the murder of Cottonmouth, Knight took Claire Temple to the precinct to interview her. However, Temple was less than cooperative and asked to see a lawyer. Knight, stressed out from the incident with Diamondback, lost control and slammed Temple against a wall. Seeing this, Priscilla Ridley entered the room and ordered Knight to let Temple go, telling her that she'd lost control. Ridley asked Temple if she wanted to press charges, but Temple simply scoffed and left. Knight then explained to Ridley what was really happening.[12]
The detective went through an intervention with Gabe Krasner. She eventually broke down, explaining that the whole deal with Rafael Scarfe as well as Diamondback's threat caused her to lose control. Ridley talked to Knight, who told Ridley that the only way to get Cage is to reason with him. After convincing, Ridley gave Knight her gun and badge back and allowed her to pursue him.[1]
The next day, Knight was walking back to the precinct with some coffee when Officer Jackie Albini landed in front of her. Across the street, a man who had punched Albini announced himself as Luke Cage. Knight went back to the precinct and talked to Mark Bailey who was all but convinced it was Cage, but Knight wasn't ready to believe that. As she looked more, Bailey found a file on Diamondback. Suddenly, they heard yelling. She arrived in the interrogation room to find that Lonnie Wilson was attacked by Detective Dorsey. Afterwards, she and Ridley dealt with Patricia Wilson's anger. Knight asked how Lonnie was, but Patricia was angry and told her that he was in the hospital.
Afterwards, Knight walked into Ridley's office telling her that Cage didn't kill Cottonmouth, but rather Mariah Dillard had something to do with it. She wouldn't be able to step foot into Harlem's Paradise after the tragedy. She also claimed that Diamondback killed Albini, but Ridley didn't know who that was. Knight then visited Domingo Colon for information because she saw him with Cottonmouth. Colon told her to go to Harlem's Paradise, it has new management.[13]
Shot in the Arm[]
Knight went to Dillard's rally in Harlem's Paradise began making her way towards Diamondback's direction. When she stepped into his office, he greeted her with a cruel smile while she claimed that he was under arrest. But Diamondback denied this and shot her arm. She put him under arrest, but he shot her in the arm. There was chaos in Harlem's Paradise which was caused by Diamondback. Before he could kill her, Luke Cage arrived and saved her by blocking the bullets with his own body. Cage assured her that he has her.[13]
Cage tried to help and then they saw Claire Temple, who asked if she needed help. Cage told her to stay where she is. Shades and his men started opening fire on Cage and Knight as he carried her into a closet. Knight started getting cold due to the loss of blood. Cage had no choice, but to stick Knight's finger into her bullet hole causing Knight to scream in pain. He then carried her into an escape hatch. She asked him if Carl Lucas or Luke Cage was helping her. She then asked about Willis Stryker to which Cage told her he was his half-brother. He then closed the escape hatch just as Diamondback blew a hole into the closet. Knight laid back down and called Ridley, but the call was distorted. Knight asked Cage if he had a phone, but he said he lost it. Knight broke down, saying that she didn't want to bleed out on the floor like Rafael Scarfe.
Knight started getting very tired and asked Cage questions. He answered and told her he would need help when they get out. Knight says he will have it. Cage then tightened the strap on her arm causing Knight great pain. cage then heard tapping and realized that it was Temple on the other side of the wall. He broke through the wall. Temple went to help Knight, but all she saw was blurs. They then heard Diamondback on the speaker telling Cage that he will start killing hostages. Cage knew he wasn't bluffing, but Knight told him it was a trap. Cage didn't care. Eventually, Shades found them and tried to kill Knight, but was his by Temple. The two then dueled Shades and beat him despite Knight's injuries. She then arrested Shades. The hostage situation eventually ended, and Cage was arrested. As Knight was brought away on a cart, she told Ridley that Cage in innocent.[14] As Cage was getting put in the police car, Knight managed to get up and scolded Cage to give the impression she hated him. However, she was actually giving him clues on how to escape.[15]
Confession of Candace Miller[]
Since Candace Miller knew the truth about the Murder of Cottonmouth, she decided to talk to Knight and made an appointment in a park. In the park, Miller started to talk with Knight. She said that Mariah Dillard was the person who actually murdered Cottonmouth, not Luke Cage. She revealed that Dillard and Shades paid her so that she would not tell the truth and accused Cage of doing it. She also seemed to regret what she did. Hearing this, Knight believed her, as Knight told her not to tell anyone about this.[15]
Meeting with Cage[]
Suddenly, Domingo Colon was killed in an explosion, Knight investigated and then got a call from Luke Cage saying it was Diamondback. He asked her to meet up. She did and saw Cage through a window in a building. He told her to meet with Turk Barrett before leaving.[15]
Duel at Malcolm X Boulevard[]
Mariah Dillard and Shades entered Pop's Barber Shop. They were trying to recruit Luke Cage on their side. But soon they were interrupted by the arrival of Knight who attempted to arrest Dillard for the death of Cottonmouth. Instead of letting this happen, Shades pulled his gun to Knight, while Cage trying to make this situation in peace. But Knight accused Cage of working with criminals. Cage then spotted a grenade being dropped outside the shop and shielded Shades and the rest from the blast. It was revealed that Diamondback has come with his Specialized Battle Suit while Shades took this opportunity to steal Knight's phone. Diamondback then insulted that he was shooting his former ally, only to discover the suit was bulletproof, forcing him and the rest to get out while Cage and Diamondback were fighting each other. During the battle, Knight had a talk with some policies. And Claire Temple asked her if Cage can win this and she answered with confidence that Luke can win it.[16]
Arresting Mariah Dillard[]
After Diamondback and Luke Cage fought each other, Cage won it. After the battle was over, Knight quickly arrested Mariah Dillard for the murder of Cottonmouth, while handcuffing her. So, Knight took her to the police station. There, Dillard was taken some photos in case she needed to be arrested. After that, Dillard was interrogated by some policies. But due to lack of proof, they could not arrest her, and Dillard could happily be free.[16]
Revisiting Harlem's Paradise[]
After the death of Cottonmouth, and her release from custody Mariah Dillard had then reopened Harlem's Paradise under the control of her and Shades. During a Sharon Jones performance, Knight had entered Harlem's Paradise, sat at the bar and gazing vengefully at Dillard and Shades[16]
Earthquakes in New York[]
Luke Cage's Return[]
Knight visited Claire Temple's apartment, where she found Luke Cage dressing. She requested to go on a walk with him, reassuring Temple that it would only be a minute. As the two walked, Knight informed Cage of everything he has missed out on since leaving Harlem; though he asked about Mariah Dillard and Shades, she disclosed that there has been an entirely different threat doing harm to the youth in the area.
Knight told Cage about the recent death of Sean, whose body was discovered after a car explosion. When he volunteered to join in the investigation, she recommended that he visited his mother instead.[17]
Investigation Interrupted[]
- "Look, I know that you think you're just doing your job, but I'm telling you, this case isn't normal. You are walking into some weird-ass shit..."
- âJessica Jones to Misty Knight[src]
With her squad already at the scene, Knight joined Strieber at John Raymond's Hideout; she was updated by her superior on the tip that there were explosives stored in the apartment, added that the call came from Jessica Jones. The two made comments before Knight approached her. Knight spoke on Jones' language before questioning her on what she may know. As Jones began to leave the scene, Knight caught her stealing a document, forced to chase her down into the hallway only to find that she was already out the door. She then got a call from Luke Cage, telling her that he located Cole Miller. Knight advised him to stay back, but he went in anyways.
Later, Knight located her outside her apartment building, arresting Jones. At the precinct, she scolded Jones on her intrusion into the city-wide investigation the department was on. She then started questioning her on what she may know despite her constant protests to be let out. The interrogation was abruptly interrupted by Matt Murdock, who proclaims to be Jones' attorney.[18]
Friends in Protective Custody[]
- "This is the kinda case that makes or breaks a career. And I'm not talking about mine. Now, you track down and stop this Organization, whoever they are, and brass will be knocking each other over trying to shake your hand. But you don't break this case, they'll remember that, too."
- âStrieber to Misty Knight[src]
Knight is visited at the prescient by Luke Cage, who asked if she could shield known friends of his own. At first, she declined and pushed for him to give her answers that could help with the investigation. Soon, however, Knight witnesses a bleeding Colleen Wing seated next to her desk, Claire Temple and Danny Rand by her side.
Later, with all close friends to the Defenders in the room, Knight made an announcement to everyone about their protection from potential threats to their respective allies; she pulled Wing aside to speak with her about her katana, given the answer that it was for protection from the Hand. Despite rebuffing that she and her force could protect them, Knight is convinced and returns the katana back to Wing in case of an attack.[19]
Having received a call, officials headed for an abandoned building and discovered the deceased body of an unidentified elder and the unconscious bodies of Jessica Jones, Cage, and Matt Murdock, bringing them into 29th Precinct Police Station for questioning. First, Knight left Jones cuffed in the interrogation room and upon awakening, begun to question her whereabouts and potential participation in the death of the unnamed man. After hearing her testimony, Knight spoke with an awakened Murdock, who protested that there was nothing for him to disclose to her. Despite this, she continued to ask that he lost the impersonation and explained himself, reminding him that he was found alongside Cage and Jones and believed there was more to him than the lawyer persona. Soon afterwards, Murdock was taken by Jones and Cage. Strieber told Knight that her job was in jeopardy, and she needed to find them.[20]
Life Changing Injury[]
Losing an Arm[]
- "Claire, whatever it is you're planning, it ends in either jail or a cemetery."
"Please."
"You guys are in way over your heads, all of you." - âMisty Knight and Claire Temple[src]
Knight arrived at Midland Circle with Claire Temple. She changed her mind and asked how long the Defenders wanted her to stall. Outside, she got a call that the C-4 had been stolen. She and Strieber realized it was the Defenders and they were going to blow up Midland Circle Financial. Knight called bomb squad while Strieber once again threatened to fire her.
An angry Knight tried to get back inside the building only to find it locked. She called Temple and told her that somebody brought bombs. Much to her surprise, Temple was in on it. Knight warned her not to go through with it, but then heard the clanging of swords. She asked Temple what was happening, but she hung up. Knight then shot at the door handle to break in. She entered and immediately shot at a man fighting Temple. She then pointed her gun at Bakuto. When he walked closer, she shot, but the bullets did not affect him. Knight was then pushed to the side. Although slow to get up, she saw Temple getting defeated by Bakuto and rushed in to help. Bakuto sliced off Knight's arm. She screamed in pain and collapsed. Wing decapitated Bakuto then rushed to Knight's side. She was carried out of the building just as it exploded. The group and the Defenders watched as the building collapsed with Daredevil and the Hand inside.[20]
Recovery[]
- "Um, Danny, uh, wanted to say that he has connections at this hospital, and it's a... it's a state-of-the-art kind of place, so..."
"Connections?"
"He owns it. Maybe they can help, get you back up and running." - âColleen Wing and Misty Knight[src]
The next morning after the collapse of Midland Circle, Knight woke in the hospital, reminded of her lost limb, and was immediately greeted by Colleen Wing, who asked about her condition. As a method of help, Wing informed Knight that Danny Rand owned the hospital she was staying in and he was willing to aid her recovery, returning back to her life.[21]
Return to Work[]
- "Only a fool walks away from a three-quarters pension, tax-free for life. You're a lot of things, but you're nobody's fool."
"I don't want a Purple Heart. I want my job back." - âTom Ridenhour and Misty Knight[src]
Knight attended physical therapy with Claire Temple, but felt like she was going nowhere with her arm. Temple talked to her, but Knight saw it as pity and told her to stop. Later, she saw Luke Cage in Pop's Barber Shop. Cage told her he needed her help to take down heroin operations around the city, but Knight told him she was done before walking out. Bringing her groceries down the street, she ran into Cockroach Hamilton whom she and Rafael Scarfe put away years ago. She approached him and he told her that since Scarfe was dirty, he was let go. Knight angrily went to the precinct and found the new captain, Tom Ridenhour. She asked him how many people were let back out onto the street because of Scarfe. Suddenly, Cage arrived having caught Arturo Rey III with a Judas Bullet. Knight saw it as an opportunity to catch Mariah Dillard and rejoined the precinct.[22]
Knight came back and immediately saw an old childhood rival, Nandi Tyler, who took her old job. Knight demanded her old table back. She then went to interrogate Rey, but was stopped by Tyler, who told her that everyone sees her as a hero, and she did not need to come back. This was ultimately to condescend Knight. Mark Bailey then told her that he will tell her the truth as a friend, her severed arm makes people feel weird around her. Knight returned to her paperwork, but had trouble writing with her left hand. She then noticed stares and looks from her colleagues. She stood up and told them to take a good look at her arm because it was the way she was now. Later, she went to interrogate Rey once again. She talked to him, but eventually Benjamin Donovan arrived and told Rey not to talk as he made bail. Tom Ridenhour was angry with Knight for talking to Rey and threatened to suspend her. Knight then talked to Luke Cage about what happened.[5]
Training with Colleen Wing[]
- "Do you feel good, huh? Taking down a cripple?"
"Yeah. If that's how you see yourself."
"You don't know what it's like to feel powerless. To have somebody take your identity from you, your soul." - âMisty Knight and Colleen Wing[src]
Knight was called by Claire Temple, who reported that Luke Cage had beat up Cockroach Hamilton. Knight arrived and surveyed the scene. However, she let Cage go. Knight went to see Hamilton in the hospital to ask him questions, but he would not answer. She returned to the precinct and got berated by Nandi Tyler, who was mad that Knight was putting herself into their investigation. Mark Bailey agreed. Tom Ridenhour also yelled at Knight for interrogating Hamilton.
Knight took a boxing lesson with her friend, Colleen Wing. Knight got frustrated as she was a righty, yet she lost her right arm. Wing helped her through the anger and pain. They went to a bar later only to be hit on by a man. This caused a bar fight where Wing and Knight mopped the floor with the men. Wing told Knight that she still had it.[23]
Investigating Bushmaster[]
- "Jesus Christ, Luke, what have you gotten me into?"
"Bushmaster isn't just making a play on Mariah's weapons. He's got other plans." - âMisty Knight and Luke Cage[src]
Knight saw a video of Luke Cage getting punched by a man named Bushmaster, so she went to Pop's Barber Shop looking for Cage. She found Bobby Fish, who directed her to Soledad Temple's Apartment. She found Cage and talked to him about Bushmaster. They decided to investigate him. With the help of a friend named Tomas Ciancio, they went to a warehouse and found the decapitated body of Nigel Garrison. Ciancio told them about the Yardies and a group led by Bushmaster that branched off of that named the Stylers. Knight worried about what cage got her into, but also told him to get back to his apartment as he has a concussion. She returned to her home to find a note from Colleen Wing and Danny Rand. The package contained a cybernetic arm.[24]
Getting a Prosthetic Arm[]
- "For what this thing costs, it better do more than just help me drink coffee."
"I know this seems silly, but the arm is being programmed to respond to the remaining nerve endings in your limb. The muscles flex and send a signal to the prosthetic to respond accordingly. It's not as simple as linking a cell phone to your car with Bluetooth. It takes some time before it clicks. Trust me." - âMisty Knight and Rand Enterprises Technician[src]
Knight went to Rand Enterprises to calibrate her new arm.[8] She then filmed a commercial for Rand Enterprises that showcased her arm and their advancements with technology.[25]
Afterwards, she visited Cockroach Hamilton in his apartment. When she walked in, she saw that he had his sling off. He tried to quickly put it on, but Knight knew he was not hurt. However, she did not have any evidence for it except her word. She later found Drea Powell, Hamilton's lover, in the hospital. Powell was all bruised and claimed to have slipped into Hamilton's arm and that was why it looked like she was punched. Knight pushed her to tell the truth and she said she could not because she was scared of Hamilton. Knight returned to the precinct to get a warrant to search Hamilton's apartment only to find a bottle of alcohol, reminding her of Rafael Scarfe and how he framed Hamilton. She then got the warrant and searched Hamilton's apartment, planning to plant false evidence just like Scarfe. However, she found blood on the floor. She investigated further to find Hamilton's decapitated body.[8]
Troubles At Work[]
Resigning[]
- "In case you haven't noticed, there's a war raging in our streets."
"Yeah, I've noticed the war. It's the same one that we have been fighting for years, and shit doesn't change. But the rules of engagement do, and if I do it your way, nothing happens. Zilch. And the other way, I become Scarfe. And I cannot become Scarfe." - âTom Ridenhour and Misty Knight[src]
Knight reported the body but was yelled at even further by Tom Ridenhour for investigating without probable cause. However, he had other things to worry about as there was a public beheading at Mariah Dillard's building. He simply told Knight to go home until further notice. Knight angrily punched the desk and dented it. She looked at her cybernetic arm, surprised at her newfound strength. She stayed at the precinct and watched Ridenhour interrogate Dillard. She found out that Ridenhour and her had a relationship in high school.
She went to a restaurant where she talked to an old friend, Gabe Krasner, who helped her the last time she was having trouble at work. She revealed that she went to Hamilton's apartment to plant evidence, just as Scarfe did. Krasner understood her, but simply said that she should get fired. She agreed. She returned to the precinct and got a call from Luke Cage, telling her about how he was protecting Piranha Jones. He told her that the Stylers were trying to find them and their cars had a Jamaican flag on the side. Knight went outside and found that very same car. She approached it, but they drove away. Luckily, she got the plate number. However, her talk with Krasner really stuck with her. She realized she could either do it Ridenhour's way and not get anything done. Or do it Rafael Scarfe's way and become a dirty cop. She eventually could not take it anymore and walked into Ridenhour announcing her resignation before turning in her badge.[26]
Horrible News[]
Knight was playing basketball in the park when she was approached by Tom Ridenhour, who wanted her to return. She told him that she is not coming back and has made peace with leaving. Later, she met up with Luke Cage and they formed a mini team to find Piranha Jones. Upon getting to a warehouse, they took care of the Stylers before finding a room with a fish tank. Inside the tank was Jones' severed head being eaten by piranhas.
Knight called the cops in and was found by Ridenhour. He did not agree that this was enough evidence to say that Bushmaster killed Jones. He also told her that he wanted to strike a plea deal with Mariah Dillard which got Knight really mad. Nandi Tyler and Mark Bailey then walked up to her. Bailey asked Knight to leave as she was not a cop anymore. Tyler and Knight immediately started exchanging words until Cage told them to stop.
Knight went to the bar and hooked up with a guy. When she was kissing him, her phone rang, but she declines it. The phone rang twice more until she finally picked up telling Bailey that the world better be on fire for him to call her. He told Knight that Ridenhour was found dead. She got up without a word and left. She met with the rest of the police at the crime scene and saw Ridenhour and Comanche's body.[27]
Rejoining[]
Knight rejoined the precinct and went through Tom Ridenhour's stuff. Nandi Tyler walked in saying that they had a pool for when she would return to work. Tyler gave her three days. Tyler showed respect to Knight and told her that Knight was the highest-ranking cop now. Luke Cage walked in with Mariah Dillard and Tilda Johnson as there was a threat on their life. Knight thought about the crime scene and figured out that the shot that killed Comanche had to come after Ridenhour was killed, meaning there was a third person. She suspected Dillard or Shades. Knight interrogated Dillard and brought up Ridenhour's death, thinking she had something to do with it. However, she was surprised when Dillard gasped and almost cried.
Benjamin Donovan arrived and got Dillard out. However, Tyler walked in and told Knight that Shades' car was found close to the murder. Knight made Shades stay as she had probable cause. On the way out, Dillard was attacked, but got away. Knight was disappointed she did not die. During interrogation of Shades, Donovan stepped out because Dillard lost all of her money. Knight proceeded to interrogate until she realized there was not enough evidence and let Shades go.
Knight and her squad went to Harlem's Paradise and briefly talked to Bushmaster, but did not arrest him. They then went to Mother's Touch to see Johnson. Suddenly, they were attacked by Stylers, but got away. Cage asked if Knight could call Danny Rand for safety.[28]
Attack on Rand Enterprises[]
- "Luke Cage! Let me reason with you! Mad respect, yeah? You're a hard man to kill! You can't burn. You can't drown. So why fight? Before someone you care about gets killed, just give me who I came for. You and your pa can go home. Misty, too. I just want Mariah Stokes."
- âBushmaster[src]
They arrived at the Rand Enterprises Research Facility, but Knight was worried as there were too many doors to get in. She negotiated a deal with Mariah Dillard; however, Dillard wanted full immunity. Knight returned to the precinct and found that Priscilla Ridley was assigned back to the precinct to fill in for Tom Ridenhour. The two talked about Dillard's deal and Ridley said they should agree to it in order to arrest Bushmaster, even if it sucks.
Knight returned to the facility and got Dillard to sign the deal. She then called Ridley to have her arrest Bushmaster for attempted murder. Suddenly, the Stylers arrived and Bushmaster gave them a minute to give him Dillard or he will fire. Knight and Cage wanted to do it, but James Lucas told them not to. They then got into a shootout that ended with Cage defeating Bushmaster and Dillard getting away. Bushmaster was then arrested and taken into custody.[29]
Another Dirty Cop[]
- "Harlem deserves a legitimate champion, not just a vigilante. And once I return to One Police Plaza, this precinct will need a new commander. I think it should be you."
- âPriscilla Ridley to Misty Knight[src]
Bushmaster soon blew up the police convoy in order to get away. Three days later, Knight investigated. She knew that Knight and Cage were the only ones who knew where Mariah Dillard was. She also knew that she only said it to Priscilla Ridley. Therefore, somebody must have tipped off Bushmaster. She checked the logs and found that Nandi Tyler used her key card to get into the interrogation room and eavesdropped on Knight and Ridley's conversation. Knight and Ridley broke the news to Mark Bailey, who did not believe that his partner would tip off Bushmaster, even going as far as to talk about Knight's instincts with Rafael Scarfe.
Knight found Tyler at the airport and went to arrest her. Tyler complied but punched Knight to get away. Knight told her guards to stay back and ran after Tyler herself. Knight taunted Tyler before defeating and arresting her. In the interrogation room, Knight talked to Tyler and wanted to lash out, but kept her composure. Tyler was found guilty and arrested. Ridley admired how Knight kept her composure and offered her to be the head of the precinct.[6]
Evidence on Dillard[]
Knight went to work following multiple murders at Gwen's. As they were Bushmaster's family, it was obvious that it was Mariah Dillard's doing. However, they needed evidence. Knight got a debrief from Mark Bailey, who said a victim was identified as Anansi and one of the victims got away. Luke Cage went out to find that victim: Ingrid Mackintosh for a testimony. Just in case that did not work, Knight further investigated. She found that there was a type of gun used for all the killings except Anansi's. The bullet that killed Anansi was the same bullet that killed Candace Miller. Now Knight could take Dillard down for two murders.
Knight investigated old files and was told by a colleague of a murder with that type of gun from 1987. Knight knew it was likely the same gun and went into the archives, finding the case. The man's name was Peter Stokes: she got her. Knight was called by Cage, who said that Mackintosh just wanted to return to Jamaica with her husband's corpse, she did not want to testify. Later, Knight was walking to her car when Shades approached her. He explained that Dillard took it too far and wanted to help take her down. He then voluntarily got arrested so that he could testify.[30]
Help From Shades[]
Shades slept in the interrogation room, acting nonchalant. Knight and Priscilla Ridley mocked him from behind the mirror. Ridley argued that it was not the best idea as he was asking for immunity from all his past crimes. Knight urged her to let the deal happen as they could convict Knight, get closure on Candace Miller, and for Tom Ridenhour. Knight walked in to hear Shades' testimony. Shades had Patricia Wilson as his lawyer. They started and Shades talked about him and Comanche beating up a man named Carl Lucas in jail. Shades noted how the man should have died, but instead broke out after experiments. That man turned out to be Luke Cage. Tone's death. Tone shot up Pop's Barber Shop. Everybody loved Pops including Shades and Cottonmouth. So, Cottonmouth threw Tone off of the roof. Shades laughed as he remembered Tone's screaming. Wilson got up and left as one of the children Tone shot was her son. However, Cage saved him.
Knight listened as Shades moved on to the murder of Cottonmouth and how it was Mariah Dillard's doing despite him going there anyways to do it himself. A cop asked Shades if Candace Miller witnessed the crime. Shades remarked at how he now knows her name. He then talked about shooting Miller by luring her with Knight's lost phone. Knight knew he used the gun that was used to kill Anansi, but Shades told her that it was Dillard who used it in the Anansi murder; during which he requests water. Briefly leaving the room to get said water, Knight briefly tears up on now knowing that losing her phone led to Miller's murder until regaining her composure and returning.
Shades then talked about Comanche's death, walking through how Comanche shot Ridenhour before he shot Comanche. Ridley then had Comanche's mother walk in as she listened to it all. She spit on Shades before leaving. Knight told Shades to sit back down before giving him a task to retrieve the gun from Dillard.[31]
Battle at Harlem's Paradise[]
- "Mariah Stokes Dillard, you are under arrest for the murder of Candace Miller, Cornell Stokes, and the massacre at Gwen's."
"I didn't pull the trigger."
"You have the right to remain silent." - âMisty Knight and Mariah Dillard[src]
Knight scouted out Shades at Harlem's Paradise as he talked to Mariah Dillard and tried to sneak out with the gun. Suddenly, there were gunshots. Knight found Bushmaster breaking through security. She followed Bushmaster and tried to shoot him, but he punched Knight, knocking her out. Knight woke up to find Luke Cage also knocked out. Cage woke up and they went to find Dillard. They found everyone in the basement, and they fought. Knight and Cage double teamed the even more enhanced Bushmaster, but were defeated. Shades protected Dillard as he shot at Bushmaster using the gun. Bushmaster mowed through them, but was stopped by Cage, who put Bushmaster in a choke hold. Dillard yelled at Cage to kill Bushmaster, but Knight gave him a look, saying not to do it. Cage let go and Bushmaster ran away. Shades picked up the gun and gave it to Knight, who proceeded to arrest Dillard. As Dillard walked out, Knight called it a win, but Cage told her the job was not finished.[31]
The End of the Stokes[]
Knight watched the trial of Mariah Dillard with Luke Cage. Dillard warned that crime will go up without her regulating it. Just as she predicted, crime rose 75% and Knight found herself in a shootout with a woman. Knight ran out of ammo and was forced to charge at the woman to arrest her. She arrived at Mother's Touch to ask Tilda Johnson of she knew where Bushmaster was. Johnson was a little rude in telling her no, so Knight left.
Eventually, many of the Stokes Crime Family began to be murdered in the street, likely on Dillard's order. Knight reviewed the deaths and was interrupted by Priscilla Ridley. Knight called Shades, but got no answer, causing her to worry if he was killed as well. There was then another death, Dillard's assistant Alex Wesley. Soon enough, Dillard was killed by poison while she was talking to Cage. With her death, Shades' deal was voided, allowing Knight and Mark Bailey to arrest him, putting an end to their hardships over the years.[32]
New Boss of Harlem[]
Luke Cage: Harlem's Ruler[]
As apart of Mariah Dillard's will, she gave Luke Cage Harlem's Paradise. With this, Cage decided to become the ruler of crime in Harlem so that he could regulate it and keep it under control. Knight met with Cage in Harlem's Paradise and became worried at how he was handling the situation. He argued that he was keeping crime at a low, but Knight argued he was being a dictator. Knight warned Cage that she will arrest him if he does wrong. He was then told something by Sugar, so he asked Knight if she was finished. Knight scoffed before leaving. As she looked towards Cage, he was sitting on his desk talking to Sugar.[32]
Trouble in Chinatown[]
Revisiting Old Friends[]
- "Look, Danny, you and I don't know each other very well. Now, you did something for me that turned things around, and I appreciate that. I'm happy for you and Colleen. I think you got a good thing going here. But I am telling you, and I need you to hear me, you are off this."
- âMisty Knight to Danny Rand[src]
Upon learning of Donnie Chang's hospitalization and the description of a guy with a glowing fist, Knight traveled down and encountered Rand and Wing on the street. She was brought back to their home where she told them about Chang. Rand explained that he saw people outside and thought they were danger, but Knight explained they were cops. Knight knew they had the best intentions, but they messed up. Rand explained how Hai-Qing Yang had a stroke, but told Rand "Hancock 212." Knight concluded that it was the transport unit. Rand wanted to help, but Knight told him they were off the mission.
Knight talked to Wing about her quitting vigilantism before seeing a picture of Wing, who explained that they were being followed. They realized that Rand was gone and found him at the pier in Hancock 212. Knight got mad at him and told him he could not leave. Wing talked Knight down and she went to examine what was in the unit, only to find nothing.[33]
Looking for Danny Rand[]
- "Until we hear back from Meachum, we should just keep hitting the streets. With these things, you never know what might turn up."
- âMisty Knight to Colleen Wing[src]
Knight was called again by Colleen Wing who said Danny Rand was kidnapped. Knight gave her full attention towards the case and asked for something Wing and Rand had only touched so she could get her prints. She also calmed Wing down. They approached Ward Meachum, Rand's best friend, in the street. They told him the news and he said he would put Rand Enterprises security on the case. When he left, Knight knew Wing did not like him. She said she was trying as Rand liked him.
They continued walking in the street and Wing only worried more. Knight assured her that they will find him. They then got a call that there was a murder at the club. They arrived to find many deaths and the descriptions of a glowing red hand. They knew it was not Rand, but a new Iron Fist. Wing then got a call saying where Rand was. They arrived at the location to find Ryhno's Gang beating up Rand. Knight fired a warning shot and talked Ryhno down before they took Rand out.[34]
Apprehending Mary Walker[]
Danny Rand told them to call Ward Meachum, who brought Bethany, a doctor. Bethany told them all to back off as she stabilized Rand. Colleen Wing told Meachum about Davos and he grew very worried about Joy Meachum since she was seeing Davos. Her and Wing decided to grab Joy as Ward stayed with Rand. They arrived at Joy's apartment and Knight forced her to open up. Knight explained the situation until she realized someone else was there.
She looked around until she was attacked by Walker. The two fought until Knight was pushed to the side. Wing then fought Walker enough for Knight to get up and warn Walker that she will shoot. Walker gave up and Knight arrested her. They arrived at the dojo where Joy confessed to being behind the recent events. She said that Davos was not done either.[34]
Interrogating the Suspects[]
- "I haven't been arrested, I haven't been Mirandized, and I haven't spoken to my lawyer."
"I will just call this you and I having a chat in a mutual friend's apartment."
"And if I try to leave?"
"We'll see how far you get." - â Joy Meachum and Misty Knight[src]
Knight proceeded to interrogate Joy Meachum who claimed she was not under arrest and said she could leave. Knight told her that she could see how far she gets. Meachum told her to ask Walker about Danny Rand. Meachum proceeded to reveal that Walker had DID. Mary was the nice woman that Rand found on the street and Walker was the psychopath. Meachum talked about Davos' plan. He used an ancient ritual with the Crane Sisters where they tattooed the heard of an ancient dragon onto him to take the Iron Fist from Rand. Knight then interrogated Mary Walker and asked about Danny Rand. Walker claimed she did not have to do with it. She then brought up the DID, but Walker only said the name of her alter.[35]
Crane Sisters Conflict[]
- "Okay, if we can get everything back together the skin, the needles, the blood, you think you can do this ritual thing in reverse?"
"Keep in mind that the alternative is a long stay in a small cell."
"Oh, and that's after I'm done with you." - âColleen Wing and Misty Knight[src]
Knight talked to Ward Meachum, Colleen Wing, and Danny Rand afterwards, saying she believed that Walker would play ball since she was only for the money and Joy was legitimately scared of Davos, so they will not arrest them. Her and Wing decided to go find the Crane Sisters. On the way there, they stopped by the gas station and Knight was disappointed in the spicy sauce that they gave her, saying they need energy, but not bad energy. She then talked to Wing about her claiming to hang up the katana and then coming back. Wing turned the question onto Knight's promotion, but Knight caught her, bring the topic back. Wing brought up Bakuto and Knight claimed to have met guys that went bad and bad guys who went good.
They arrived at the Crane Sisters' Tattoo Shop where they found the sisters tattooing a man. Knight approached them and they turned off the loud music. Knight claimed to want a tattoo, but the worker knew they were lying, so Knight brought out her badge and got right to the point. Another worker told her that they do not have to answer. Knight agreed, but said that they were accessories to kidnapping. Aiko then charged at her with a knife. Wing noticed and pushed Knight out of the way, causing a fight. Knight went to get one of the sisters while Wing took on the other two. She ran outside to find a motorcycle coming at her. Knight clothes lined the driver and arrested her. She brought the perpetrator inside, calling for interrogation.
The crane sisters were arrested and explained what they did to Rand. They said Davos insisted that they use the ink to transfer the power. Wing asked if they could reverse it. Knight said if they could not, then they will be arrested, so they reluctantly agreed. They returned to the dojo to find it empty.[35]
Requesting Support[]
- "I put in a rush request for a no-knock. Should have that in hand by the morning. ESU. We go in hard and fast. Get Davos, get the bowl, get your fancy little Fist back."
- âMisty Knight and Colleen Wing[src]
They soon got word that Danny Rand had been injured, punched by Davos causing a borken leg. They went to the hospital. Knight paced around the room as Rand was in surgery. She soon went to Captain William Pike and asked him for help. However, he told her that in Harlem, she has a man with bulletproof skin and in Chinatown he has a man with a glowing fist. He told her to let him take care of it as he thinks it is good that Davos was killing because he was killing the Triads.
Knight met with Wing at the dojo and Knight warned her to take time on herself. Wing then brought out her research on Frank Choi. Suddenly, Rand arrived wanting to get out of the hospital. He limped to his seat asking about Davos. Knight told him that Davos killed more people. Rand told her about how Joy Meachum and Davos were at an art gallery. Knight said she will look into it. As she left, she told Rand it was good to see him back, which Rand disagreed with. Knight jokingly told him that his leg was still attached to his body.
She met with Joy Meachum and asked her questions about the ritual. After some prying, Meachum told her that she got the bowl used in he ritual from Mika Prada. However, she warned that Prada did not like her. She proceeded to meet with Prada asking about the bowl. Prada wondered if it was bad news and figured it was. She told Knight that the bowl was one of a kind, so Knight asked her to give every detail on it. Knight saw the collection of Ernst Erskine and that one of items had Wing's family crest on it, so she took a picture. Prada brought over a key piece of the collection from an ancient city in the Himilayas. Knight said it was probably K'un-Lun, but Prada did not know what that was. Prada then unfolded the artwork showing a painting. Knight took a picture believing the painting to be a story about Chi. Knight thanked Prada who hoped she was helpful and told Knight to let Joy know she was.
She met with Wing and Rand back at the dojo and told them the bowl was one of a kind. Rand saw the photos and deciphered the code on the artwork. He found it to be the instructions of how to perform the ritual. However, if it went wrong, all parties could die.[36]
Getting a Task Force[]
Knight was able to get a task force by going over Captain William Pike's head and talking to Priscilla Ridley. She also was able to get a hold of Frank Choi so that Colleen Wing could ask questions. Wing found out that her mother was in New York from a story that Choi talked about. Wing told Knight and Choi to leave as she thought. Knight returned, thinking she made a mistake in getting Choi, but Rand said that was not it. It was the fact that he wanted Wing to take the fist. Knight claimed that it was his everything and Rand said he wanted her to have it.
Knight walked outside to Wing and apologized, but Wing said she was just trying to help. Wing claimed that she did not know Knight that well, but it was the closest she had to a healthy relationship. Knight said the same for Wing. The next day, she arrived at Bayard Community Center to see that Wing defeated Ryhno's Gang, but BB was murdered. Knight said that she could not save everyone. They then rushed inside to find that Davos was sedated. Rand had Knight get Joy Meachum from Eden Towers. Knight reminded them that Davos was hers after the transfer.[37]
Battle at Eden Towers[]
- "Let's go after her."
"I can't. Look at my arm. It's done. You go. I'll take Mary and go and get backup." - âDanny Rand and Misty Knight[src]
Knight arrived at Eden Towers to find an injured Joy Meachum strapped to a chair. Knight was then sneaked up on by Chen Wu. The two engaged in a fight and Knight was put in a choke hold. She was able to break free until Wu was shot by Ward Meachum, who was angry because he thought Wu was Davos. Knight put pressure on Wu's wound and thanked Ward. Suddenly, Walker shot Wu and killed him, saying he was not going to make it. She then hit Knight with the butt of the rifle.[37]
Knight woke up in a cellar and attempted to pry her way out with a pole. As she worked, she heard gunshots outside. She finally escaped to see Danny Rand fighting Walker. Colleen Wing was also fighting Davos as the transfer was not complete. As Walker defeated Rand, Knight came from behind and punched her. The two engaged in a fight, but Walker got the upper hand, slashing Knight's arm with her sword, breaking it. Rand came in to help, slicing a water pipe with the katana, making water spray everywhere. He then told Knight to use her flashlight as a strobe light. She was confused, but did so anyway. This triggered Walker into turning into her alter, Mary. Mary greeted them and Knight greeted her back. She stayed with Mary while Rand helped Wing and Davos, defeating him.[38]
Knight and Wing[]
- "It was a team effort. Besides, Knight, Wing... It's got a little ring to it."
"Little bit. Let's hang out soon, okay? Grab a beer, do something normal."
"It could be sooner than later. Last time I saw Luke, I did not like what I saw. And now you've got one of the few weapons that might make a dent in that man." - âMisty Knight and Colleen Wing[src]
Knight took Davos into custody and told Danny Rand it would be the last time he could talk to him for a while. Rand left to do so while Knight talked to Colleen Wing. They talked about Wing's new responsibilities as the Iron Fist and Wing asked if Knight wanted to take the captain's job. Knight was not sure, but did not want to be cooped behind a desk and red tape, so she was leaning towards no. As Wing left, she said she would help anytime. Knight said it might be soon, voicing her worry for Luke Cage's new role in Harlem. They hugged before Knight left.[38]
Personality[]

Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Cybernetic Enhancement: After her lost right arm was replaced with a cybernetic one made by Rand Enterprises, Knight obtained enhanced powers. Knight's prosthetic arm is highly durable to most hardened materials that would break it. Knight's arm was able to punch against the edge of the arm stand made of metal at the police station, and the arm sustained no damage towards it, when she was swung at with crowbars toward the arm, it was able to withstand both strikes. The arm has even protected Knight from glass that was thrown at her by Bushmaster.
- Enhanced Strength: Knight's new arm grants her a greater level of strength. Punching metal plating with her new arm, she was strong enough to crush it easily. She is also able to send grown men back several feet with a single punch, effectively overpowering regular humans. Her arm allowed Knight to even temporarily subdue the likes of Bushmaster. After Mary Walker traps Misty in a room with a steel door in the warehouse, she was capable of scraping through the inner side part of a concrete wall where she broke her way out of the room with ease.
Abilities[]
- Expert Martial Artist: Misty Knight has received training in close combat from the police drill. She mentioned that she had trained in several ways to disarm someone holding a gun to her head. However, when taken hostage by Diamondback she was unable to perform any of them and could not put up any resistance against the more crafty fighter. After further training from Colleen Wing, an extremely skilled martial artist, Misty was able to fight against multiple men with her one arm, also the aid of Wing. Once she received her Bionic Arm she became more fierce with herself in defensive situations.
- Expert Marksman: Due to her police training Misty Knight is skilled in the use of firearms. She was able to kill a member of the Hand with several shots to the chest.
- "You're doing it again. I hate it when you do that."
"Hate it when I do what?"
"Stare at the photos like they're about to start moving."
"They are talking and moving; you just have to be still enough to hear what they're saying." - âRafael Scarfe and Misty Knight[src]
- Master Investigator: Misty Knight is a highly skilled, highly ranked detective. She is capable of reconstructing a crime scene in her mind simply by looking at the photos taken at the scene; judging by Rafael Scarfe's remarks, Knight getting lost in her reconstructions is a common occurrence. She is also able to notice details that other detectives miss, such as Luke Cage being unharmed despite having bullet holes in his shirt.
Equipment[]
Weapons[]
- Glock 19: Knight pulled her handgun when Willis Stryker shot at Luke Cage inside Harlem Women's Clinic. Knight retaliated with her gun, but when Stryker entered inside the clinic, she lost her gun and was taken hostage. Stryker threatened Knight with the gun, but instead of killing her, he knocked her out with it. She also carried it with her when infiltrating Harlem's Paradise during Mariah Dillard's protest. She tried to ambush Diamondback, but he was able to shoot her in the arm and almost kill her. Knight also held Jessica Jones at gunpoint right after the death of John Raymond, having followed her as she saw Jones stealing evidence, so as soon she realized Jones was covered in blood, she took her into custody. Knight then carried her gun into Midland Circle as the Defenders prepared to destroy the building, saving Claire Temple by killing one of Bakuto's men that was attacking her, and shooting at Bakuto, who survived the bullets and disarmed as she ran out of ammunition. Knight continued using her standard issue gun once he regained the use of her lost arm thanks to a prosthetic, when dealing with Bushmaster's men at the Irie Taxi Garage, or in a shootout at Mother's Touch. She later got herself involved with Iron Fist and the Triad War in Chinatown, so she resorted to using her handgun to threaten Ryhno's Gang and rescue Danny Rand from them, to informally arrest Joy Meachum at her apartment where she was disarmed by Mary Walker before retrieving the gun while Walker fought Colleen Wing and made her stand down, and also to later rescue Meachum at Eden Towers, where she ambushed and disarmed by Chen Wu.
- Glock 17: Knight personally owned a two-colored version of this handgun, outfitted with a tactical flashlight, and took it when she accompanied Luke Cage to investigate the Yardies' Hideout, where Cage had confronted the Stylers. Cage compared the gun to something Ripley would use in the Aliens movie, though she preferred a Sarah Connor comparison, and advised her to take a bigger weapon. The warehouse was empty, except for the corpse of Nigel Garrison, which she found using the gun's flashlight.
- Mossberg 500 Cruiser: Knight took this shotgun when she accompanied Luke Cage to investigate the Yardies' Hideout, where Cage advised her to take something bigger weapon than a handgun given that he had been attacked with grenades. However, the warehouse was empty, except for the corpse of Nigel Garrison, so she did not end up using the weapon.
